Just saying rumor has it miaa only susprnded 1 player from each team 2 games. Why were the others all exempt from a suspension despite being involved in the fight like the others who the miaa suspended 2 games?
When does the carnage begin? Looking to see a good knuckle duster. First period? Second?
Found it. Go to 46:19. https://youtu.be/L8e4i12uJ7U.
Arlington #19 gets absolutely mangled. The kid is way smaller than everyone else he should have just stayed out of it. You can see him sitting up after the pile shifts away and he looks absolutely concussed. How that Belmont goalie didn't get a DQ for mashing faces with the waffle like that is beyond me. He was hitting kids in the back of the head like some kind of criminal. Loving the street fighter upper cuts. What a legend. Good dust up, hope everyone recovers and hits the ice hard for their next eligible games.
2010 article but I don’t believe things have changed. There is a difference between a straight misconduct and a misconduct-DQ. It’s ultimately up to the refs to make that call, but honestly I have no idea where they draw that line. But don’t worry, if your coach is connected enough and the boosters can pony up the $300 appeal fee, you might be able to make it all go away...maybe.
Section 49; DQ for fighting, punching, kicking, spitting, intent to injure.
Section 72; 2 DQ’s by any one player or coach they’re all done for season. 4 DQ’s by team in one season and no tourney.
So, basically, if you have a line brawl where everyone is chuckin knucks that could be 5 DQs and bye bye playoffs.
And no chance at the annual "Sportsmanship Award" given out at the Garden.
Watching that fight, the goalie should have just been escorted off of the ice by the police officer and arrested. Throwing a few punches and throwing a kid to the ice is not the same as assaulting a kid to the back of the head with what is basically a weapon - his blocker. His actions were just petty criminal punkass behavior. See ya for your season because I'm sure he'll have plenty of community service to do. And coach, what do you have to say for yourself?
When the goalie gets run and slashed its to be expected he is going to retaliate. Most kids had all their equipment on and full cages so really not much other than pushing shoving and hockey boxing where little damage was going to be done other than bruised egos etc.. Looking forward to the rematch at the SKip.
That's some weak sauce right there. So a kid goes to the net and the goalie and defensemen have an issue with it (like 4-5 times a game) and a minute later the goalie skates over to the corner and assaults a kid in the back of the head and it was called for? Goalie should be looking at 4-6 game suspension minimum.
In reality how do you only take one player from each team when all those players were given a game misconduct and DQ. Arlington coach pulled his ref buddies together and said lets fix this.SOS with him. All those players tossed and involved in the scrum etc should be out 2 games with suspensions. Foil up for the next game at the Skip its going to be a good one.
Very weasily move on the goalies part...more cowardly to be honest...seemed to be looking for the perfect opportunity to throw a big hay maker at one of the Arlington players who had his back turned or wasn't ready for it...I was waiting for the Arlington goalie to come flying down and lay him out...ala Patty Roy!!
Agree 1000% !!!! total coward move
funniest thing was the goalies complete shock that he got tossed.
once off the ice he had a complete meltdown
When is the next game between these two?
MIAA Tournament game on 3/3/2018 @ Woburn. Arlington took 2nd reg season game but not easily. Classy play by both teams in Game 2 on Belmont's 'Senior Night'. This game should be good hockey. (Wait for it...'public school haters' will have comments about level of play which totally miss the concepts of sportsmanship and respect for a good adversary). Best to both teams. Go Belmont!
