In Mass it is who you know not necessarily how good you are. You have to be able to play but if you are not connected or don't have the right "family advisor", you are not going to get the looks to get the chance at the camp - you need someone pulling for you in the evaluation room - examples of that from all 3 ages groups this year.
It has been like that for years and it is the same in some of the other east regions. No one is interested in changing it...
Which is why no one gets worked up about it. It's not an indication of anything any more to have attended a development camp. Better off doing other stuff.
