Like i said about \\\$10k. \\\$7,500 tuition. So far a few over nights about \\\$350 a weekend all in. Schedule allows for one night hotel. A couple of longer trips will be about \\\$750 each. Yeah i guess it will be about \\\$11k.

9K all in. The best decision my son made. Prep is a waste of money. High School Hockey is a waste of time.

That\\\'s because you\\\'re thinking about Prep from a hockey perspective. That isn\\\'t what it\\\'s about. I know it\\\'s a running joke here that nobody chooses Prep for the academics, but if you aren\\\'t thinking about the academics first and what that does for his opportunities in college, you aren\\\'t looking at it right.

So you wasted money for a prep school education to put your kid in a so called good private D3 school to chase a hockey dream that was done after high school. Not a wise decision if you ask me. I bet that private school is unheard of outside of the New England area. How much debt is the kid racking up for this D3 private school education?

He isn\\\'t there yet - this is the HS Board, not the College Board. But his choice of college will be the same as the decision on going to Prep School - which school provides the environment and infrastructure where he will thrive academically and socially, as well as allowing him to continue his hockey career?

If you think here\\\'s no difference between a class of 30 and a class of 6 in HS then you probably think there\\\'s no difference between a lecture hall of 250 and a class of 15 in college. It\\\'s not that there aren\\\'t jobs out there after kids graduate. Traditional learning doesn\\\'t prepare kids for the real world. So it becomes a GPA contest, which isn\\\'t the same as learning. Companies requires a different skill set. One that more closely resembles what \\\"D-III\\\" schools offer.

And, the point that small NE colleges are only known in NE has been made before and roundly rejected. Kids from Williams and Wesleyan are not only top picks by top companies across the country, but top picks by top Grad schools across the country. Most \\\"D-I\\\" schools are known to most Americans because of football or basketball success. If you ask the average person about the academic reputation of different D-I schools, very few will know which are good and which are bad.

But, to answer your question about how much debt, well, ummmm, zero? Paying for education is my job as his dad. He commented on that last week, about how he knows how lucky he is that he will never have to worry about student loans. What I\\\'ve already asked him in return is that he do the same for his kids.

A prep school isn\\\'t going to pay for his college. Sorry, he isn\\\'t that type of person who excels in the classroom. Wish he was, but he isn\\\'t. Those college possibilities are still there for non prep students as well. Like I said, Prep is a waste of money. I\\\'ll save that money for his college tuition.

That\\'s like saying \\"buying a Porsche is a waste of money. My Camry does the same thing.\\"

Or, \\"buying a house is a waste of money. I rent a two bedroom. Keeps us warm and dry.\\"

There is absolutely nothing wrong with those choices. Doesn\\'t mean another set of choices is wrong.

Exactly, with the car reference. Wrong on the renting analogy. Prep is a waste of money.

So, if someone said \\\"I\\\'ll give you a Porsche Cayenne for \\\$15,000 plus your Camry\\\" you would turn them down because it\\\'s a waste of money?
