Re: U16 / u18 coaches

U16 coaches, U18 Coaches and Prep coaches don’t develop..I guess we should all go back to Town hockey!
That isn't true at all. Coaches at all levels are still teaching the game, including the pros. It's why Cassidy has his job.

Good U16 coaches are definitely still focused on development. U18 maybe one step down.

I know of several Pep coaches that are definitely focused on development. Davie Ries at Brooks, Joe Mallin at MX, Carl Corazzini at St. Mark's all have reputations as good developers.

In MA:
TL good, JL ok. Both only really committed to their bloodline though. All of their sidekicks are a joke. Guy down at the sister program is a total want to be and treats players and parents like crap. 0 Development. Kids actually get worse under him. Rumor has it he’s been suspended most of the year so hopefully someone else can actually coach. Kings and bandits in the same boat. They just scrounge around trying to find any old coach to stand on a bench. Junior Bruins and islanders much better situation than other local USPHL programs mentioned. Pics are the Pics....stay clear.

In NH:
Seacoast good, expensive though. Monarchs have daddy coaches. Avs are a thug organization so if you want your kid learning to fight, send them there. Cyclones are for the kids who can’t play anywhere else, basically bandits of the north.

In CT:
Elite Hockey is the best. Good talent and coaching. JR Rangers really bad at basically everything. Political and a joke. All others a waste if you can’t make Elite teams.

Accurate. Pics making a change for next year

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

What’s the real deal with the Lovell programs at Midgets?

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Overrated. Good league, terrible facilities for BA.

Terrible everything at Giants. Tons of travel and no home games so TL can pay for the gas in his Porsche.

No locker room, busses or organized travel for either.

Good coaching at BA but unless your one of the kids who has been with program for a long time forget about it.

Literally no coaching at Giants.

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Are the Kings looking to make any changes for their Full Season teams for next season?

This is all pretty accurate. Guy's a little salty, but if Baby Blue isn't already your kid's favorite color, all things being equal he's gonna get the short end. The league does make it worth it, though.

Giants aren't credible and won't be as long as RL is there.

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Let me guess, he benched your kid, called him a lot of bad names then cut him?

He is a salty dude that’s a little too into himself, especially given his limited success playing the game. Seems to know the game but hasn’t quite learned how to be a professional and to really teach it. My son used to play for him and personally liked him and his style. He used to ride the kids hard but figured out a way to have a good relationship with them. If a kid is lazy or doesn’t listen then they’re going to hate the guy because he has no patience for that, as he shouldn’t.

He’s in a tough spot because owner doesn’t give the program what is needed as BA is the flagship. What people probably don’t realize is he actually started the full season teams they have from scratch. Lovell brothers gave him zero support. TL actually steals players from him each year.

Like many young coaches just needs to spend some time with some seasoned professionals so he can learn to teach vs yell and bench kids.

Ummm. No. He showed up drunk and threw up in the locker room in front of the team. Sent my kid a contract last year even though he didn't even try out.

Stop making excuses for him. He's 27. That isn't young. And he shows no signs of maturing any time soon.

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Have your kid play in Canada and this will be nothing compared to what they’ll be exposed to.

The guy’s no different from a lot of other people in the hockey world. Certainly no different from most of the hockey parent out there.

Sounds like he had a bad season and was suspended for most of it. Lots of broken promises, angry parents, and kids quitting. No doubt folks will continue to bail based on his lack of presence. People don’t pay fill in coaches at that cost.

Lovell’s in general are a dying breed. All profits go to them vs providing standard services like competing programs, locker rooms, equipment, asst coaches, busses, housing, 80 min practices and so on. Local USPHL offerings much better.

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Spot on. Hopefully he gets his act together.

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Imagine USPHL Organizations cared as much about development as they do about the commercial that aired on NESN?
Sad but True!

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Fair to say that the NTDP is the only midget program that actually cares about development. Sad but true.

Would love a coach to prove me wrong!

Have they posted tryouts?

Teams like the Islanders, Bruins, and Kings have to care about their U16 U18 teams so they can flip the bill for the NCDC so it works out for everyone, 16s develop and are happy, move on to 18 and feel loved and hope to get a shot at NCDC.

The Pics only care about the U18 and Premier team with the hopes of sending a few to low level DIII or NCDC, so the U16 group gets basically nothing when it comes to coaching and that is not going to change anytime soon.

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Wrong about the U18 Jr. Bruins coach. Listen to the parents and look at there wins and losses. Perfect example of guys being able to play the game, but not being able to coach the game.

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Generals now advertising u16/u18 split season teams.

I see ECHL (weak) but no other info. No tryouts listed. Is this a TL/JL creation??

ECHL is a professional league one notch below the AHL.

They're also advertising Prep and Tourney teams.Doesn't mean they can field them.

Re: U16 / u18 coaches

Generals have always had a (really bad) u18 split team. Why? To fund the NAHL team. Duh. They are trying to start a u18 full season team out of where the Advantage Icemen play. TL has a lot of unused ice so just a way to use it and give the boot to the current FS ECS team there. Could be great having another connection to the now successful NAHL team, but it won’t. U18 better than that NA3HL fund raiser they have. It will be to the likes of the Boston Shamrocks, Miltia, Express or East Coast Spartans. Why? Saturation, poor recruiting and unappealing coaching, ie, Giants. The L boys and the Generals guys have no shame.

this is surprisingly accurate and good insight for this swamp.
