If you're a big hockey player who is fit and can run there is a D-1 spot for you somewhere. Schools adding Lax like no tomorrow and 50 man rosters make for plenty of room. Hockey might be the most upside-down college sport there is. Year around play, competitive h.s. and then 2 years of juniors which many kids and parents pay for, fighting the world for a college roster spot, 24 players fewer spots and your kids position, legacy kids all move to the front of the line... Run now while the kid has a chance!
So a Lacrosse player can do 4 years of high school and then go play some form of College Lacrosse if good enough? No wasting 2 years of life before hopefully playing college? Sign my kid up for that.
I dont understand why Hockey has to be so much different even to play D3..toxic.
So you see most kids wanting to do this hockey marathon in order to make a living? I've always thought of it just as a way to get a solid college education while playing the game they all love.
