Re: Memorial Cup

Yes. Seriously.

Major Canadian Jr Hockey still best hockey for 16-20 year olds. Bigger, more physical.

USHL is generally ranked better than the Q & "W", and equal to the O. If you watched these games closely, defense is non existent, just last night in the finals, there were many bad D plays.

Re: Memorial Cup

One of the better D on Halifax had been on Providence College, but couldn't break into the lineup.

Re: Memorial Cup

Yes and ncaa teams are better than junior teams. Your point?

Canadians don't think that as well as american dads who kids play up there.

Re: Memorial Cup

Major junior and NCAA are different. Major junior is a developmental league for the NHL of 16-20 year olds and supplies approximately 52% of all NHL players. NCAA is older and is essentially a men’s league. Allows a lot of players that weren’t quite ready to be pro at younger ages to continue to develop and have the opportunity to be pros.

Major Junior will have some high end players that are better than what you will see in the USHL. Those kids will most likly be ready for the jump to the NHL. After that is similar to USHL. NCAA is better than USHL. Look in the drop in point production therefore NCAA is better than CHL despite what the dads of players say.

Re: Memorial Cup

For the last few years, USHL has been ranked ahead of 2 out of the 3 CHL leagues. CHL has high end talent, but the bottom of those teams are dreadful. USHL teams are more balanced and don't have a "bad players"

Re: Memorial Cup

Of course NCAA is better than USHL. The USHL is basically a developmental league for NCAA, and many of the NCAA players already played in the USHL. NCAA players are much older than USHL (and even more so than major junior).

USHL is a great league, full of DI commits. Tends to be older than Major Junior because Major Junior is sending more players to the pros at younger ages. Just take a look at the NHL Central rankings. The vast majority of the players come from the various Major Junior CHL leagues.

Re: Memorial Cup

Maybe if this was posted on the youth board it would make some sense. Ridiculous thread. . . .

CHL is older. USHL has many more 18/19 year olds leave for college. In CHL those kids stay until they age out n search of a pro contract.
