Be careful at upcoming Tnmt s the prep quarantine police will be out in full force. Is it worth losing your financial aid if you get caught not in compliance?
LOL I suspect this is the same pot stirrer that has been taking shots at prep in different ways throughout this pandemic. I hope you are charging them rent for how much space they take up in your head. Most campuses are locked down so unless they sneak out, I think they will be fine. If its that important my guess they risk being told to stay home and go remote.
Yeah, you think kids are going to risk getting kicked off campus to go play in a tournament that nobody can watch when they are on campus lifting and skating at their own schools now? Let us know how the Beast Tournaments are! Our guess, lonely.
Kids wont run the risk. Too much to lose. Sorry dads, need to find something else to entertain you this weekend. I know, it sucks
how many prep hockey players value their academics over hockey..will 1 yr training w. out enough real competition get them to the next level.. take away NE prep hockey for 1 year and repercussions will be huge.
1 year of getting bigger, more personal coaching time and working on skills will have huge repercussions for these prep kids. Everyone is in the same boat so they are not loosing anything. Tier III New England hockey is tempting but we will take our chances at a top 10 prep program.
Huge risk if the quarantine cops catch you. Could be life changing. Not a great gamble. Look at it this way, the 3 or 4 dads that make the Monday morning post tournament calls ( same calls since mites) will find others to recap the meaningless games to. Just think how much more productive your day will be.
For my family, academics first, already told the coach no out of state tournaments unless the school changes it's policy.
We considered leaving Prep when all this talk about Covid and no hockey season happened, even flew out to USHL camp and was offered a spot( top 9 F minutes was the pitch) but very happy we decided to stay the course, already been on the ice 3 times in 5 days, coaches getting quality time with players to work on player specific needs, new workout schedule has been put in place, and classes are all in person. All wins for my son #staythepath
What prep school?
I have heard all of the "hockey" prep schools skating already. KUA, Cushing.....KUA.
I bet you're the parent with several "elite" school bumper stickers on their car thinking it impresses the people behind you.
Take it for what its worth, my experience has been, advisor or no, there are a lot of guys involved in this process and its all about helping everyone justify their existence. Advisors, coaches, schools. Its all a big circle of guys helping each other make money. Schools make money off of every application so coaches want to get you in to apply. Advisors will use their buddies to help them out making it look like they had something to do with a visit you could have setup on your own with about 10 seconds work. Your kid still has to apply and get by their admissions department. Schools like cushing are easier to get into period but also very competitive from a hockey perspective. Ask them how many lines they go with each season and look at their roster and how many they are graduating (its all easy info to find). If my kid was on a 5 line team I would hope he would be on the top line, after that I would worry a lot about how much time he would get on the ice. A few schools out there like that and I think the most important part is being honest with yourself about who your child is. None of the people in the process will be honest with you. It does not serve their best interest.
Just to follow up on the original topic, many teams are struggling to fill rosters with so many prep players in lock down. I don't see fall hockey being very competitive this season.
Now that prep schools are starting up again I have to admit how wrong I was. There are alot of kids leaving prep to play some version of high level midget or jr hockey. My son called me today to tell me about 4 kids not coming back at his school and another school with 4 also not coming back. All are seniors so that makes some sense but to not make up your mind until now is just wrong.
