How sad to go after a kid who is no longer part of your program!

Good for that family !

This actually happens more than you think.

Programs don’t want kids to leave and refuse to sign waiver.

Feel bad for a family who does it right and still had to go through that.

Same thing happened to me, but for baseball, a long time ago. School I was leaving wouldn't sign the papers, so I had to play JV after being varsity starter at my old school. I understand rules are in place to protect the kids and the schools, but use a little bit of common sense every now and then...

This kid and the other 10 new players on that team were recruited. Its comical to think otherwise. Kuchar is from that area and is heavily involved in scouting the Fall Prep League where Foskett and other MC players play. If it was about Education Central Catholic is close by and Foskett's father graduated from Austin Prep. But, let me send him 15 miles further to Malden..LOL. Kuchar runs a sketchy program.

Oh say it isn't so! A Catholic hockey program that recruits!

Next thing you know the kids will start 'staying back a year' due to the rigorous academics at a Catholic school! (No mention that the assumption of the kid's academic ability is coming from the hockey coach who prefers to have a varsity team packed with 19 year old men)

And the MIAA still insists on having a D-I Championship and a Super 8 D-IA Championship when it's just a Publics' Championship and a 'Recruiting Private School Championship'

Are you people kidding me with the "rules are rules" crap? It's frigging high school hockey. READ the **** article.

The kid played in the Hockey Night in Boston tournament for Kuchar - like hundreds of other kids do. After that he still played on the Haverhill team - and the following year decided to go to MC for educational and yes, perhaps hockey purposes because he actually liked the coach and the kids on the team. These kids all play different club teams and also know each other - so playing together on a school team comes into play as well - that isn't "recruitment" - it's wanting to play with your friends at a better school.

So what? Are the lefties mad because someone is trying to better themselves?

Many of the Haverhill teachers are sitting on their asses on zoom calls as the kids fail, the Mayor is a joke, The AD is still pulling down a hefty salary for basically doing NOTHING to support the hockey team - and worst of all Roberts and Gleason the coaches are two of the the most dense people on a hockey bench. And the kids that remain on the Haverhill team are left dejected and mistreated by the coaches, AD, and school committee. Nothing is ever addressed.

Can you imagine the team Haverhill could put on the ice if the hockey talent in that city actually stayed there? They don't stay because the education is sub-standard at best and the program is a joke - those coaches alone have lost so many good players year after year you can't keep count. That isn't because of "recruitment" is because of good decision making by parents and students and getting out when they can.

In the end, the magistrate made a rare ruling against the MIAA and in the players family favor against the MIAA for a reason - the evidence of recruitment didn't hold up that the coaches and AD claimed. It didn't hold up because it was a lie - and everyone involved in that lie should be fired for what they put that player and family through - it was a dirt bag move.

If there WAS evidence, then the finding would be different. In other words, the three stooges lied - and they lost.

They lose in court constantly. But they do not care (see below).
Nearly all coaches at some point test those lines or cross them - then hope they don't get caught.
If they do, an AD to AD talk usually reins them in. (not in this case, see below).

Further:
Everyone knows he was contacted (you don't move without at least a 'is there room for me' conversation).
This is the second player from Haverhill to that MC coach.
Once enough ADs have 'had it': including Catholic schools (least they all are tossed).
They threaten to vote to remove that school from the MIAA --- FOR ALL SPORTS.
That means full independent; yes they can still play MIAA schools -- but
That means no state championship.
The AD fires the coach OR
Doesn't and the superintendent fires the coach AND the AD
No MIAA school will hire that coach.

You're actually not even close to two steps ahead, in fact, your flailing miserably. Clearly you're tied in some aspect to the three stooges at Haverhill High School.

You're missing the most basic fact that filing a suit against the MIAA and WINNING it is rare. Very rarely does the parent/player win because it becomes evident rather quickly why the player was denied the transfer. In this case the initial refusal is routine. You are wrong that the complaints are filed without expectations - that's simply not true. In fact, it has happened multiple times with Haverhill.

As far as the player being 'contacted' - well, no kidding. It is plainly stated in the article that the player played for the MC coach in a HNIB tournament - do you seriously believe that the coaches don't speak with the players during the tournament? Maybe if you're a lousy coach yourself and you lack basic communications skills with your own team, than I can understand how you believe that. Other than that, it's pretty common place to speak with the players individually, and ask things like, you know, where do you go to school now? Perhaps in your anal retentive world, that qualifies as "recruiting". I'm willing to bet that MC coach actually spoke with every player on his tournament team - imagine that? A coach that's plugged in and conversant vs. one that is a mute and clueless.
