Re: D1 Dead Period extended

That would just make it worse. Junior rosters are already packed this season. Grant another year of eligibility and the colleges would just wait on \\\"more mature\\\" 21 year old freshman instead of 20 year old freshman. Junior teams would hold on to their 2000\\\'s another year. The clog never gets drained. Who wants to be a 21 year old college freshman? 20 years old is bad enough.

It\\\'s time to just start moving things along.

Also, if Canada isn\\\'t open to American players next season I hope USA Hockey doesn\\\'t allow foreign players on to U.S. rosters. Go take a look at the Protected lists today and you can see the trickle down logjam of players coming from Canada and Canadian leagues into the USHL, NAHL, and on down to Tier 3. It\\\'s a mess for players. For owners, management, and coaches it\\\'s a buffet of players to choose from and, frankly, jerk around. We have more than enough American born players for Junior hockey in this country with the borders being closed.
Yep, Junior rosters are already packed. One NCDC team dressed nearly 60 kids this season.
Yes they dressed a lot of players and it didn’t help them at all. D1 commits from US & Canada pushed many talented kids out. But the new kids were playing for the name on the back of their shirts instead of the team on the front. What a shame!
"D1 commits from US & Canada pushed many talented kids out. "

That's an oxymoron, if the kids were talented, they wouldn't have been pushed out??
Im not sure you know how this works. College has a commit that needs to play, they call a Jr team and say "I need you to let this kid in" Jr team lets the kid in without questions makes it look like their program developed these players and gets to put little college logos next to their names on the roster. Kids without college commitment are just that and left out. Sucks but is reality.

Re: D1 Dead Period extended

Exactly! It’s all about making it look like they helped that kid get a commit when in truth all these kids came in with commits in hand. So next season when parents are looking for an organization to send their kids they think their son will get lots of exposure to D1 schools. What they’ll get is sent to the lower teams to pay - if they are lucky. Covid screwed everything up and coaches screwed kids over. Reality.

Re: D1 Dead Period extended

Me and my 18 year old son had a conversation this morning with an Advisor that wanted us to sign up with him. We brought this up and his answer was "Yeah, we can get on a good USPHL Premier team as the NCDC teams are pretty well set for next year" Needless to say we are not signing up with him or paying to play Premier. Time for college, maybe play club if the schools even offer it next year.

Re: D1 Dead Period extended

Advisor is actually right. There are some teams out there that are already developing their u16 kids for playing on their junior teams next year.

It’s not the U16 kids taking spots on NCDC teams. It’s the older kids who need to know they have a place to play next year. Very few Kids playing U16 this year will be on a NCDC team never mind NAHL or USHL.
