Assuming split season returns to normal are there U18 teams for my prep senior I should want him on? Are there ones we should avoid? Yale, Rats, MFF historically strong and likely full. What are the next tier of teams?
You have to ask yourself are you willing to run the risk of your son not being able to leave campus and you not getting your $ back? An honest question. Teams will have tryouts and will pressure families into giving deposits and you will never see that $ again if your son can not play.
Good point - hoping if everyone is vaccinated by June 1 it won't be an issue but always a risk.
been wrestling with same question
Maybe check my hockey rankings?
How about Cyclones or Seacoast?
It mostly depends on which school your son attends. Obviously there are some exceptions, but each split season team has connections with certain prep schools. If your son is at least a decent player, he basically gets a spot on a split season team based on the prep school he attends. Yale (Hotchkiss, Salisbury, Loomis), MFF (Avon, Brunswick), Rats (Lawrence, Dexter, Tabor), Whalers/Kings (Thayer, Nobles), Eagles (Sebs, Nobles, Dexter), EMass (Cushing), Rifles (NMH, Deerfield), Cyclones (St. Paul’s, Andover, Exeter), Little Bruins (St. Mark’s, Lawrence), Fall Prep (Gov’s)
