The CDC is said to be recommending all K-12 schools go back to wearing masks even if the student is vaccinated. I would get on the phone with your students Prep School and find out what they plan on doing. Many schools made vaccination mandatory for next year, now to tell these kids they need to wear a mask all day everyday again will lead to unenrollment's like never seen! Many of these schools are lead by health teams that use these guidelines and will not waiver for any reason. Prep schools hockey is done if this happens, I know my son will not be going back, and just received 15 texts from people I asked that will not put their kids through this again like last year.

I think it will vary by school, those schools with extrememly large endowments (Exeter/Andover, etc.), at the end of the day, they don't care about sports and can survive. But for those schools with very small endowments (Kimball Union, Dexter, etc.) they are going to have to figure it out as they need sports to fill up their enrollment as they aren't glowing academic institutions.

After last years disaster the plan was to do a PG year this year, a year of Jr and then onto college. So he can take his gap year now and play 2 years of Juniors.

This person is the problem and there are too many out there like them. As a vaccinating individual i don't plan to go through life wearing a mask in public because of people scared of a vaccine. You should be scared of delta. I wonder if you will feel the same way about the vaccine when you find yourself or one of your kids on a ventilator fighting to survive. I will be thinking of you while watching a prep hockey game and how this whole thing was unavoidable. As more get vaccinated and as the virus continues to mutate your risk will increase. Good luck. The problem is the vaccinated are the ones getting it and spreading it too. So vaccine or not, you can still get it unmasked in crowded places. Yes, you might not die but you can still be spreading it to others. And if they choose not to get vaccinated and get really sick or die, it’s not your problem, it’s theirs. I just love the vaccinated that think they are sooo much better than the unvaccinated. You’re not, so stop being a dick to people who choose to make a different decision. Maybe the unvaccinated dont want to go through life wearing a mask (or injecting a rushed vaccine they dont believe in ) because people are scared of a virus with a over 99% survival right. it works both ways.

if the vaccine does what you are promised it does why do you care if some dont get it? why dont these finger pointing discussions happen every winter with regards to the flu vaccine? why do the vaccinated get to draw the line of where people have a choice and where they dont?

if the unvaccinated are causing the mutations why where they no mutations to speak of while everyone was unvaccinated? the virus didnt need to mutate when nobody had the vaccine because its attack was sufficient. now that more people have antibodies, either through their body's natural immune system or through the vaccine, it has to change to become affective vs those people.

if people choose to not get vaccinated, maybe its not because they dont "believe in the science" or trust the science, maybe its because they dont trust the people telling them the "science." keep in mind 6 months ago that champion of public trust (fauci) knew that he funded a lab in the VERY SAME PLACE as the virus started, and he didnt say a freaking thing.

I spoke with my kids prep coach yesterday about this. The prep school will be requiring everyone to be vaccinated and therefore will not be implementing the mask guidance from the CDC. Anyone can wear a mask if they want. He had already spoke with administration regarding it. It appears at this time that all NEPSAC schools will be requiring full vaccination and he didnt anticipate any issue with sports.

Prep schools will be fine. Vaccinations probably required but that will be the norm most places.
People are fed up with masks, we all put up with them waiting for vaccines, they are here, and vaccinated people will attend schools as usual.
This is all a last minute ploy to tick people off to get the rest vaccinated for fall.

Remember we just need to flatten the curve so we don't overwhelm the health care system.

Don’t pay the money for prep. My kid was miserable last year, had 14 games and the school had these kids on lockdown like cell block 6. No fun, no letup, no common sense. These “educators” are are bunch on sheep and are keeping kids “safe” 24/7 from a virus that has zero consequence on their age group. If you send junior, you will regret it.
