If this is the best the USA can come up, hockey is in trouble! If this shows us anything its that not enough time is spent on skating and "teaching" the game. Come on all of you skating coaches, skills coaches, "Elite" level coaches, Prep School Coaches, this is on you now. Develop players that can play the game consistently so they are prepared for any game situation. The players there now have been failed by their coaches and most have no idea how to deal with the failure they are feeling now going 0-2, but make sure you tweet about how great they are and their "commitments" which are now falling apart as they are totally exposed.
How are the local kids doing? High expectations for them.
Most of the problem I've seen over the years is the inability of coaches and organizations to identify the right prospects early on and then properly develop those prospects. You can waste all the time you want trying to develop the wrong prospects, which in many cases is what's happening.
Perfect example was few years back, two players (neither mine), one speedy, small, water-bug type and the shiny object everyone noticed. The other taller, skilled, not as quick, but did everything right. The first player was identified, focused on, and showcased much more, but couple years later he plateaued and players caught up. The second player kept improving, growing, and turned out to be much better. A watchful experienced eye would have identified him years back and pushed the right player.
I think the misses are more noticeable with defensemen. The irresponsible flashy offensive D man or puberty aided big man get a lot of love when they are coming up the ranks but are typically disasters as they mature and everyone catches up to their skating or size. They seem to always be on the wrong end of the plus minus with lots of overhandling, bad turnovers or their inability to move their feet quickly enough.
The two from Cushing outstanding players and very much deserve to be part of that event. The coach's kid from BA is on par with 100 other area '04's and daddy has been pulling the strings for years. Kid is a good hockey player, but not at that level. Sorry dad, just the way i see it. Daddy friendship with Donato has the kid commitment to Harvard. joke, but how life works I guess.
So his USHL team is wrong about him also? Wow the jealously is amazing around here or does it bother you that you chased around team to team in the fed because you had to play in the fed to make it and he just played for his dad in the E9 for his entire life? The kid got drafted 7th overall in the USHL he must not suck that much .....
But they beat Germany! That will be the only thing talked about buddy!
So are they out? Is it really a 3 game tournament? That’s a long drive for 3 games. Foxboro is closer..and better food.
Congrats to the locals. They are clearly going to be top players in the USHL this season!

First, dont judge a single player for a team's sub par performance. It's still a team game and reports are this group needed more time together.
Second, I have charted that BA kid for a couple years and also had him ranked upper 10 percent. His USHL draft ranking was no patronage or favor. You may want to vent your own personal frustration in a more positive direction.
