Don't listen to these numb nuts.
One more year with the boys or two more years with the boys will be a ton of fun for him and you. What is the rush? To get to some overpriced college that costs 60k/year and end up with a job paying ya kid 45k/year? Maybe he matures quite a bit, takes some night classes and by the time jr hockey is done he has a year of college in the bag. Maybe he decides to go the trades and make more money than all of us.
If he's d3 prospect get him into EHL. Tons of good teams/programs and tons of kids move onto D3. If he wants to take a shot at the title and you are not on the radar of USHL or NAHL see if you can get him a look with an NCDC team. If you are not sure, ask an advisor for a fee to take a look at him and help figure out where he should go next year because he does not want to quit playing hockey yet. DO NOT just start showing up at every EHL "combine" or Main Camp. Pay the 2k to 5k for an advisor to get you a real look. And no, I am not an advisor a holes.
I love these chuckleheads that say go play "club hockey". A lot of these kids playing tier3 won't even make a Club Hockey team these days. D1 Club is on par with all but the top 20 d3 teams. The top 20 d3 teams could interchange the players with 50% of the D1 teams in the country and nobody would ever notice. I would surmise that d2 and d3 club teams are pretty much all the same...some good ones and some crap ones but making a club roster is no where near the given or under achievement most of these morons think it is.
Good luck. Life is over before ya know it....play hockey as long as you can for more than just a cold beer afterwards.
^^^^^You called them NUMB NUTS ^^^^^^ ??????
I've seen this in HS baseball. Kids don't make their hs varsity or don't even try out so they play summer club instead. But they want to play D2 or D3 college baseball. Makes no sense. I think it's a weird mindset like if you pay and play club you must be playing against top competition. They don't want to get exposed by Johnny Public School roping one in the gap off them. Sounds like same thing in hockey. Playing juniors so I must be good!
I feel like I'm speaking to a 9 year old.
You can show up at a 5 or 6 "Main Camps" at $400 bucks a whack or pay 3k for an advisor to to all the leg work, evaluation, and use their connections to place you on either a NCDC team or tier 3 team. You decide what way is best knuckle nuts.
You can go off to college and pay upwards of 60k/year at 18 years old not knowing a dam thing about life, what you want to do or what you should study. Or you can pay 10k-14k/year to have as much fun as you can and enjoy playing a game for something more than a cold beer for a couple years.
Remember the part about the advisor? That way you won't end up on a crap stick tier 3 team with kids that were not good enough to play HS hockey. At the least, if you have a good advisor they will level with you and tell you this is just a two year extension of hockey and then it's done or they will tell you the kid has a shot to play D3 and where within D3.
But you do you meat stick. Sorry you can't afford the jr hockey experience for your bender. There is a shortage of officials. Maybe you can pick up some extra cash to help.
If your player is a late birth year, repeat year or pg and has no interest directly from d3 or T2 coaches now, expect to enter the T3 pay to play model for 2 years. If your player is graduating on time, minimum 3 years pay to play. Times have drastically changed even from 2-3 years ago and while you might see kids going from EHL to a d3 roster check out their play time and games pla*** moving forward from this year's freshman class. Most don't dress and it's only going to get worse. Player pool is flooded with talent. A year or two of T3 juniors doesn't even guarantee your kid play time on a good club team.
I strongly suggest that at least 80% of 02's and 03's parents sit their kids down, explain how unfair life is due to covid and let them know that hockey is not an option going forward. Most hockey kids are good athletes, maybe try to go to college for another sport, track and field, golf, something other than hockey, its over. High school coaches should be doing the same for their players, explain to them that its time to move on with their lives. Seems easier to let them know now so they can finish their hockey careers strong.
You are such a dumb *******..good thing your kid was good enough at 16 or else he would be up the creek.
You do realize that 98% or more of the kids trying to play at the next level do not fit into your nice little bubble of being head and shoulders above everyone else? The vast majority are all trying to keep their head above water and separate from the pack.
Are you too dumb to realize that there are way more kids trying to play jr hockey and college hockey than spots available? Are you too obtuse to realize how many parents have no idea what to do to help their kids?
Follow this morons advice who didn't need to worry about any of these things and has no idea what is happening out there or you can follow mine.
If you have that amazing ability to tell us all in 15 minutes where our kids belong you are in the wrong business. Donnie Sweeney could use some help.
Wow, not only dumb and ignorant but also arrogant as hell. You really suck buddy. I"d rather not buy you a beer ever. You must be fun at parties.
