I was told by D1 assistant coach last summer the avg age for committ is 18yrs 9months. It seems old but when you think most prep players reclass and do year of juniors that seems about right.
Yo, all these little kids getting committed and I cant even get a call or email back from a Jr team. Went to Top Prep, only had 17 points last year, guess that's not good enough to play hockey in New England.
Sucks but you are correct! It's the way the entire world is going unfortunately. The MC kid has no business playing USHL or even sniffing a D1 school. Average player at best. Dad connections working OT for him.
It was a swap for JP’s kid to go to NU in 2028-29.
All I know is my phone hasn’t rung yet and I’m about done with this s hit. Not sure what else scouts need to see, I’ve played up every year, never been cut from a team in my life, 2 time captain in tier 2 juniors and still nothing. WTF!

Give the kid a break . I have watched him for years and he will be just fine. And so what if his father helped along , every one of you would do the same . Kid is 16 years old but doomed by all you miserable a-holes who have nothing better to do. Go beat your kid or something, maybe that will make you feel better.
OP here, didn't mean for this to turn into a kid bashing post. Wish the best for those who committed this week, but also pulling more for the older guys who are grinding in weight room and on the ice with the similar skill set but just have not received the same attention for whatever reason. You would think schools want kids who can make an immediate impact and have proven so in the league they play in. Time will tell.
Quite a few of these kids have yet to prove they can dominate their current level of play so not sure why a college needed to jump on them now. Good luck to those kids though....keep working or you'll get passed.
Western MA on the map with 2 going to RPI! LFG...Package deals!!!
Sin City? Someone moving east to Lynn?
This entire college thing is out of control. My son just graduated Prep, is a late 03, has been speaking to the same D1 school for about 6 months. Coach told him yesterday that there are a few “98’s” he is competing with for a spot. So my 18 year old is competing for the same spot as the 24 year old. 6 years difference.. the best part is that the coach couldn’t get in touch with the 24 year old this week because the 25 year old was on his freaking honeymoon! NCAA ice hockey is the stupidest sport in all of the NCAA.
Saying you were the captain of a Tier II junior team is like saying you were the tallest midget in the room.
