Was at the New England Sports Center the other night watching my son's game. Met some guy named Bobby Dwan who says he attended Catholic Memorial in the mid 80's. Went on to say how he was an All Scholastic, Hockey Night in Boston All Star, and one of the most highly recruited players in the state his senior year. Guy was only like
5 foot 4 inches at best Looked him up on hockeydb and found nothing. Anyone ever hear of this guy? Maybe he was one of the many who "would have made it but they hurt their knee". I knew of a few Catholic Memorial players from that era like Chris Nilan, Paul Stanton, Ted Donato, but I had never heard of this guy before. He also said he was retired from the Boston Police.
I remember playing against that kid in a summer league in Hanson when I was in high school. He was a decent player, real good hockey sense and a great passer, but way too small and not tough enough to advance at the collegiate level. He got himself in some trouble as a Boston Cop and was forced to retire.
Bobby Dwan is the absolute man. Legend at bavis rink in rockland mass and is the absolute best person to be around. The dwan family rocks. - everybody
Bobby Dwan was an amazing hockey player. Him and a kid named Gary Garland, whose son Conor plays in the NHL,tore the Catholic Conference apart their Junior and Senior years.
That's why people hate Boston. If he was from western Canada you'd have to pry any accomplishments out of him.
I played against both of those kids, and neither ever tore apart the Catholic Conference. Dwan was All Catholic, NOT All Scholastic. Garland was an average player at best. Kid was cut from Merrimack's Sub Varsity team. What does that tell you?
If Garland was so #$&+7 good, then why was he cut from a Division 2 B team in college at Merrimack? Who are you by the way? Did you hang out and ball suck the two of them in high school?
Dwan played at Army in the 1980's.
go to hockeydb.com Bobby Dwan is not even listed there, and Garland played at a D3 bottom feeder Westfield State
This is a refreshing change from cowards bashing young kids anonymously.
Mike Prendergast from southie
Chuck Texeira. Tough kid too
Mike Chighisola attended CM as well, and was a far better hockey player than Bobby Dwan. Sadly, Chighisola is now serving a life sentence in Prison.
Was he the one with the "Coach Chig" blog years back? Or a relative?
Coach Chig was his father
Who cares, CM is now a football school.
