My kid will be cut…

My son is a 07 freshmen at a catholic conference school and is almost definitely not going to make even the freshmen team. I don’t know what to do as he loves the game, but is unable to compete at this level.

Re: My kid will be cut…

Full season

Re: My kid will be cut…

No need to panic. A lot can change in a year or two.

Re: My kid will be cut…

Islanders green or maybe purple will have a spot...

Go full season but remember, tell everyone you talk to that your son went full season because public high school hockey is horrible, no skills, too political, etc. and he would have grown frustrated playing down to the level of the other players on the team.

Other than the competition that the top MIAA D1 teams can field, HS is terrible hockey, it's f-ing awful whack a puck hockey out there vs 8th and 9th graders. Congrats on your 50 point senior bender competing in D3.

Ah the critic who couldnt skate to save himself. Some want to have a blast with lifelong friends instead of being miserable like you. Kids compete regardless of division. This happens in all divisions in HS hockey. In addition there are good skaters and every year many are offered opportunities. Not everybody chooses prep for variety of reasons.

If HS team doesnt pan, full season can be option for op kid. Talk to couple Coaches and go from there.
Most have their tel or email on team sites.

Keyboard warriors who couldnt skate in their day, come on this forum and continuously judge to show how much they know. Next time answer the op question, give a viable option for his kid or say nothing. Try it. You won't, but you should :upside_down_face:

Since you both seem to know places, you could get a room together. Meet up have at it. iq or lack thereof seems about the same :upside_down_face:

Re: My kid will be cut…

Have them identify as a female. Play on the girls team and win states. D1 is now a possibility?
You’re welcome! AOC 2024

Re: My kid will be cut…

The funny thing about the prep parents is they will realize they spent tens of thousands of dollars to have their kid POSSIBLY playing at Framingham State in front of 5 girlfriend and a couple grandparents. Others will simply end up on college playing club. Should have stayed in high school and had fun with their friends.

Ummm no but keep telling yourself that. Any decent prep kid is playing Nescac or good D3

The lower end prep kids are usually the multi sport athletes and playing a different sport in college.

You are everything wrong with hockey parents today. So, getting an A+ education and playing on your college club team is a bad thing? I guess playing with friends at the local public high school is a better choice. Are you nuts! This should be all about helping your kid build a strong foundation for his/her future. Most, if not all, won't go to the NHL... the smart ones will use hockey as a vehicle to provide educational opportunities that will serve them for a lifetime. Get a grip.

Re: My kid will be cut…

But aren’t full season teams full as they were placed last March? I see nothing wrong with asking here “hey my kid wants to keep playing, won’t make his school team but wants to stay there?”

There were kids who chose full season as a fall back in case they didn’t make high school team.

Those full season teams will be short as a result.

A. It's ok that he doesn't make it and wants to keep working. B. Full season teams are looking and he can find one if he wants. Get off the Dboard and reach out to a local program.

Lovell has full season teams in most areas.

Que the dboard haters

Re: My kid will be cut…

What’s the best way to find full season teams looking for players. Doesn’t necessarily have to be MA-just New England. Are there advisors who have a broader picture of who is looking, what positions, etc.?
