Re: NE Generals

Sorry everyone the demise of the Generals has been greatly exaggerated. They will be back. Was a very tough first year. Now that they know the league better and have started recruiting they will be much better next year. Talking to the players and owners it was a year in which they knew they would struggle just didn't think this badly. And now that they know what they need to bring in they will do it and be successful next year. The Lovell's are doing a good job recruiting as is ownership (which doesn't include the Lovell's). Count them out if you want but they will be back and ready to compete next year.

Re: NE Generals

When they 'drafted' a team over a year ago it was posted here what a colossal train wreck it would be. Some posted they took kids no one knew and most players wouldn't have made a USPHL Elite team let-alone a Premier team. Why didn't the look for players? Certainly many of the local boys who are afraid of moving away from Mommy and playing against better competition would have stepped-up to play, stayed in their parents basement and continued to party with their buddies every weekend out on The Cape. What were they thinking?

Even if they had taken a few top high school players, a handful of prep heros, a few USPHL Elite wanna-bes and rounded it out some Premier players that didn't want to pay tuition and were afraid of USHL competition they would have won some games. Next time hire a scout with a phone and an internet connection.

I agree. At the time it seemed like the organization was ill informed and lazy with their approach. A top USPHL team would have annihalated this team as it was constituted. No pay Jr team unable to attract real talent. Bizarre!!

Re: NE Generals

Agree 100% and to think a bunch of people here saw it coming. Lazy and looked to the 'friends & family plan' for picking a team to be led to slaughter.

Re: NE Generals

this is not a surprise. All good people but look at the coaching, a D3 high school coach then followed by 2 youth coaches. They needed to hire a professional.

Re: NE Generals

Folding. Lovell's can't recruit for crap. Programs are overrated and they are not delivering on what they promise.

Re: NE Generals

Too bad they're folding. I don't like what junior hockey has wrought on college hockey (21 year old freshmen), but if it must exist in New England, I'd rather it be in a real league like the NAHL than the third-rate third-tier crap that has been infecting the area for decades.

Re: NE Generals

3-48 after tonights 10-1 drubbing.

If they don't fold, they probably should.

I can't imagine TL and JL investing $$ and time in this going forward. It's not worth the time, energy and bad publicity they'll get directed at the cash cow youth programs.

Re: NE Generals

TL and JL delusional. They both have lost their marbles. They think their programs actually mean something to people now. Complete joke. Talk to anybody in the hockey scene and they'll tell you not worth the money.
Even their older programs that are supposed to be great are terrible. Can't compete in the Tier 1 league and a lot of hype with zero follow through. Boch militia throttled both there half and full season u18 teams. That tells you everything you need to know.

Re: NE Generals

The U18 BA came in 7th out of 24 teams in the Tier 1 league, don't give me that crap that they can't compete.

Re: NE Generals

Off to a 4-1 start.

4-53 last year.

JL has really turned the Gens around. New roster and new focus.

Got to say, i'm impressed based on last year

Re: NE Generals

They played weak competition so far but I agree, definitely moving in the right direction. They will end up probably 500 on the year which is great.

Re: NE Generals

Went 4-0 in Minnesota against 4 different teams. 6-1 on the season.

They're legit for that league. The turnaround has been incredible.

they won 4 games all season last year.

Kudos to Joe and Tim for turning it into a real tier 2 program in here in MA.

Agreed. Only loss was by one goal too.

To who??

Re: NE Generals

Say what? On their website they list the Hingham kid as a commit from the program when he may have helped-out the team for a game or two and was already a Northeastern commit more than a year ago. Come on boys, be better than that.

Re: NE Generals

My kid once did walk on skills for Lovell....they listed him as a product of BA and a commit :)
