truth is NAHL on life support in the east. the idea of additional east teams is a last ditch effort for the current teams to try to save it. reality free model will never work in NE.
I agree that free model doesn't work in the East but how would expanding save the NAHL in East?
My thought was USA Hockey has had enough of the USPHL/NCDC/ whatever and this is best way to end it.
It surely would. The only reason to "stay" is because you cant hack it in the USHL, NAHL, BCHL, or CCHL.

USPHL and EHL are what they are. Good leagues to land in if you’re looking to play DIII hockey. If the USPHL wants to tax their youth programs in order to lighten the financial load in their Jr programs (and get away with it) then all the power to them. If you think your kid has what it takes to play in the USHL or NAHL and then DI, then get the young fella out to the combines/tryouts and see what shakes. We’ve all been at this far too long not to recognize things for what they are.

Exactly. Each level has its place. There is zero reason to knock any league your kid isn't even in, unless you're compensating for some type of inadequacy.

My son is in the league right now. It's got its good parts and bad parts like every other league out there.

He's received 2 D1 offers since the season started. I'd say that's pretty good and not the complete and total talent waste land that NCDC SUX wants everyone to believe.

The conspiracy theorist in me is starting to think that maybe he's a NAHL team owner with an axe to grind, or of course, his kid got cut.

I just don't know why anyone without a kid in the league even remotely cares about it enough to crap all over it without ever even seeing a game.

Two years ago (the last time I saw a statistic on it) the decommit rate was 12.5%. Probably way more than twice that now, could even be 3 - 4 times that.

Only a fool would judge a league by the number of commits. Northeastern could offer my kid a commit right now and I would have to think about it, given they have like 13 D that have committed.

Then again, only a fool would send his kid to play low level Canadian Juniors at 16. Or someone that hates his kid, or the kid hates his dad.

Hate to have a positive discussion in a negative thread, but what are you thinking about for next year? Will he stay local playing full season, will he play prep, or are you looking at NAHL and the U?

I have no delusions that he will ever play in the NHL. As a matter of fact, as a family we firmly believe he won't. He knows it and we know it. But he's definitely one of the lucky ones that worked his a$$ off and is at the point where he's getting rewarded for it. That is happening whether you think the league sucks or not.

He's living proof that a late bloomer can make it and a pretty cool story as he was passed over by the better "elite" teams for the early part of his youth hockey. Took people telling him he wasn't that good and told them to F off and made it happen. Apparently you are the next wave of those clowns.

If I remember correctly, your kid's illustrious career is still at the Junior Hockey level as well. Soooo, you don't REALLY know that your on spawn isn't going to be "one of those bums" playing D3 hockey.

It's pretty apparent that you have some serious inadequacies that you are compensating for through your son's athletic success. You're also counting on that to pay for college. Except, things go wrong on the journey. And you're not prepared for that.

Its nice that you can support his 5 foot 10 a$$ talking about how he was passed over because guys like me have contacts and superior genes to allow my son to be well over 6 feet and strong as hell. You can continue to go watch his games at NESC in front of 15 bums like you. He has heard and been passed over his whole life by first the EHF, then prep, and now real Junior leagues. Soon he will be passed over by D1 and land in D3. Then he will marry the hot girls fat sister. I have seen guys like you around the rink for years. Always second best, but "happy". Hahhahahahaa

Haha, I wish it were true! No, this is an actual dad that has a kid playing high level Juniors - it's not clear whether he has made it to the U yet or just NAHL. His big gripe is, NCDC waters down Tier II hockey since it will pull some talent out. So my guess is the kid is in the NAHL. If memory serves, kid also billeted to play in Canada (at a very young age).

Well he is a younger player with already 2 full scholarship offers as you say. I am sure these 2 schools want him to at least play Tier 2 before hitting campus or have they already promised him second line and power play? First, I do like reading NCDCSux guy, reminds me a bit of the old board. Why the animosity towards the league? I doubt you care that the teams are charging their youth players a few extra bucks to support it.
