Good, and they should go farther and follow lacrosse's example by establishing zero contact until Sept 1 of the students junior year in hockey. I have never understood these early commits, getting younger and younger every year, yet D1 hockey schools push their players towards junior hockey to "season" and develop and then bring them in as 20 year old freshman. The system is messed up. It would be beneficial for the schools and the athletes to push the recruitment process back.

It's WAS because the American Colleges competed for kids that were considering the Q league.

Now with D1 colleges are accepting the 1 or 2 and done kids, the Q has suffered a bit, thus the rule change
