Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

He is not big enough. Same info that has been posted on here for years. No size = No Play.
Another jealous parent with a kid who can't skate.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

I know he was dinged up but what happened? No invite to World Jrs either. Thought he was supposed to be the next Eichel? The kid disappeared?
Torn labrum. Done for the year. Next Stop ECHL

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

He is going to report to the Indy Fuel when his shoulder is healed.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

The kid has been hurt every year on every level since his freshman year in High School. He has no work ethic off the ice and is injury prone because of it. He is done on every level and he tried to hide the injury initially from the Blackhawks, whiched ****** them off.

Exactly... torn labrum is a sometimes referred to as “lazy man’s labrum” . Now grab another bud light and tell us more about how your kid got screwed out of playing time by that prima donna at central.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Hard to hide a shoulder injury like that at the NHL combine. You should know your kid was there too right......or not.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

JW is soft, always was always will be...2 assists at BU in 12 games, isn’t exactly what they were hoping for but then again they did commit him a long long time ago; little did they know that he wasn’t going to be good.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Everything must seem soft when you travel the hard scrabble road of unfulfilled dreams while constantly trying to swallow the bitter pill of parental inferiority. Chin up though, SNHU could field a club team next year.
#dreamdeferred

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Is he out at BU also?

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

You really need to reevaluate your life if you are ripping an 18 year old who is injured. You are nothing more than a jealous scumbag.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

This thread cracks me up. JW and all the others like him know the deal! Simple, perform or get kicked to the curb, the days of everyone kissing his backside are over. These D1 coaches get paid a lot of money and there is no room for a mediocre player like JW at a place like BU. D3 is litter with Youth Hockey “all-stars”. The game has a way of humbling people. Maybe you clowns could use some of that.

Sorry your JW got cut!!!

I heard BU is not having him back next year. Any truth on that??

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

JW is a very good hockey player. The problem is all the local baffoons who don't have a clue, and through the years started projecting unrealistic expectations and comparisons. When you are projecting a 12 year old as the next great one that shows how little you know how hockey works. If you go back to any of the old articles there are no real credible hockey people making these projections. They are all made by local program owners and HS coaches and local sports beat writers. These are people all in the Mass hockey Bubble. These are the people that built up this local mythical status and made it almost impossible for anyone to live up to. He is still a very good hockey player and Still has a lot of good hockey left in him. He just isn't the generational talent people said he was.

I don't agree with the "mythical" part and that it was "almost impossible for anyone to live up to" his local reputation. Eichel was regarded in much the same way at the same ages, as was Hanifin. White, too, and he's finally getting his shot to show what he can do. People forget that White was on the top line of the #1 ranked Prep school in the nation - as an eighth grader. All these players went from "mythical status" in the same "Mass hockey Bubble" to early college commits (and honored their commitments, BTW, no serial decommitters) to first round picks to NHL standouts.

Now, if you said that the projections for local talent in the 2018 draft class fell far short of the 2015 class, I can support that statement. It remains to be seen what OW and JOB will become as first rounders, and it's possible JW and TJW will still be NHL players, but I don't think any of them are going to replicate what the 2015 draft produced.

What I will tell you is, the dads of the 2015 draft class had a humility about their boys that the dads of the 2018 class lack. How much that had to do with the end game probably can't be quantified, but in my mind, that's a key differentiating factor between the two groups of boys.

“... just as good as Jack Eichel was at the same age.” - Jeff Cox
This was true for several years. In fact, JW was better than JE at the same age, up until about 13. Then JW's principal advantage of early size and strength was negated when everyone else caught up, while JE became bigger, stronger and more skilled than his peers.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

So JW was better than JE at 10-12 yrs old? Lol...,I believe the previous point about baffoons falls into that statement. Those years are not real hockey. You are the problem with a statement like that. That's why people are all over the poor kid now. Because of statements like he was better pre 13 than JE. That's irrellivent.

Might want to learn to spell before calling anyone a "baffoon."

As for whether pre-teen hockey matters, go take a look at the number of standout players from the Brick and the Q over the years. It's an impressive list. Clearly, it isn't everything. But, it isn't "irrellivent," either.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

I heard JW’s agent/advisor dropped him and BU took his scholarship away. That could be false but the truth always comes out. We will have to see and if it does PW will be jumping off the Tobin. Kid should have taken the free education instead of shooting for the moon with an NHL contract. Could have gone to a great prep school and then a great D1 hockey school of his choice. Instead went to a public highschool in Michigan and will be lucky to get credits toward an associates degree from BU. Avon Old Farms and Yale would go a lot further in my mind.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

JW and his last agent lied to the Blackhwaks about his injury which is pretty bad, also why BU is losing interest quickly, that and 2 points in 12 games will do that. Bottom line is JW is soft and continues to underachieve. D3 is still good hockey and that’s about where he should be playing.

So, wait, what you're suggesting is he should have declared himself a fugazy after his 56 goals and 118 points in 47 games as a Bantam, foregone the NTDP and the very best hockey a 16/17 year old can play in the U.S., so he could play Prep hockey, which was already in decline, and then pay his own way in college?

Do you think going to an Ivy League school makes you smarter? I didn't say more knowledgeable or better educated, but smarter? Do you think he was going to make grades at Yale? Go on to be a captain of industry solely because he spent 4 years in New Haven?

Kid's focus has been hockey, hockey, hockey since he was a little kid. Dad invested tens of thousands in skills. He was going to take the path he took. There was never any doubt.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Looks like he will be working at Dynamic for a living. Hopefully he can get a highschool coaching job to help get out of that basement apartment one day.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

The guy who says should have gone prep instead of playing on the National team is the sane guy who thinks prep hockey is the cat’s pajamas. Clueless

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Going to Prep school is better than a GED

Fortunately most of society doesn't give a rat's _ss what's in your mind.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

I can tell you this much. I would hire a kid with a degree from Cornel or Dartmouth before a kid with a practical arts degree from BU Highschool. Kids should focus on education instead of shooting pucks in the basement. Parenting 101.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Except the focus on hockey is why he is going to college for free and you and your kid had to pay. Your actually crapping on a BU degree? We get it, your kid didn't get the PP time you wanted due to JW being on the team. To say I would hire a kid from Cornell over BU just show's you how childish you are in an attempt to put the kid down. Worry about you and your own and the world will be a better place.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Most kids that go the NTDP route do not pan out to have NHL careers or even minor league careers. Check the facts. JW's parents dropped the ball big time with the parenting thing. Imagine if your kid had an opportunity to go to Harvard and you let him turn it down. Wake up !

Are you the same dude thatcwanted him to go to Yale? These aren't A student's we're talking about...

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

JW is no genius, Harvard and Yale would not be options. Only reason why BU is an option is he is majoring in hockey. He skated thru CC and did not break any academic records, prep school would have required him to study and just like the off ice training it is not what he likes to do.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Rumor has it he didn't return to school this week.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

You people really need to get lives and stop focusing on an 18 year old boy

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

JW’s days are over at BU. If he gets to the gym and rehabs he has a future in D3. His buddies from Dynamic will get him a shot somewhere.

More of a shot than your kid will ever have.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Just image the money JW's parents have invested in hockey. I heard they spent over $50,000 on the Shot Doctor alone. I few years ago he was projected to be the first overall nhl draft pic. So I could see the investment. Just doesn't look good for him going forward.

He’s so small. Not big enough. Same thing people have been saying for years.

His size is fine. If anything, he's a little too thick. But, his size used to be an asset. No longer.

And, it isn't even that he doesn't get into the gym. Casey Middlestadt couldn't do a single pullup at the Combine. Think he managed one rep on the bench.

The concerns about JW's size are more about his head and his heart.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Never understood the attraction. Saw him play in high school and a big public school defender just schooled him, I was left scratching my head.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

I saw him get lit up a couple of times in high school skating with his head down; he did not repsond well after those hits. But he did have a big mouth in the locker room, didn’t exactly win over his teammates. Sounds like not much has changed, no need for BU to put up with a player who is always in the training room and not exactly a team guy.

I have no idea how your come-back relates to the post you quoted.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Sounds like three careers are over, including the genius who quoted the original poster

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

I have no relations or even know JW, but the people who continue to criticize the kid. What cowards, I'm sure your a great role model to your kids.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

This is not criticism, these are people sharing facts related to the multi million dollar business of NCAA Hockey. Time for JW to grow up if he is going to stick around.

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

So did JW withdraw from school?

Re: What is going on with JW from Boston U?

Yup. Either withdrew or ask not to come back. Essentially the same thing.
