NCAA is judge jury and executioner but sometimes in a good mood. Sad part is people don’t research and just assume what they hear is true. NCAA let’s kids back in but you need to kiss the ring and show you are serious. Your going to lose a year plus of eligibility and you have to sit out a year plus while being fully enrolled at the school. You can’t do your sentence while playing in the USHL.

Seems like it would be possible, but a huge, huge risk. A soft 'maybe,' and sitting out a year to do so? Heck a clean commit deal with a university is a shaky proposition at best but thanks for the research.

Re: Qmjhl and ncaa hockey eligilbility

No one said it was smart, just possible. And you don’t just sit out a year or more but you also give up a year of eligibility as well. So if you go major junior you better be sure.

Re: Qmjhl and ncaa hockey eligilbility

If they made it easy and without real pain, everyone would do it.

Re: Qmjhl and ncaa hockey eligilbility

Wow, those are some career stats. A 6'2" 200 pound wing who played 4 years in the OHL and two years in the USHL (basically 6 years of top top junior hockey) and he ends up at Salve Regina University where he puts up 9 points in 25 games. Unless there is a whole lot more to the story, I think it's about time he contacts the staffing agency about a job.

Re: Qmjhl and ncaa hockey eligilbility

Four years total. Years overlap. Early developer none the less to play in the OHL at 16 years old but he obviously peaked early. That's the problem with juniors. Superstar at 16 doesn't mean superstar at 20. That's why NCAA is more appealing. Fewer games yes but plenty of time to develop. If you don't, still get a degree. Kind of a no brainer but not for the knuckle draggers in Canada who glamorize major junior as a destination instead of a stepping stone.
