Re: University

Will teams like UNH, UVM and UMaine ever be competitive again?
Yes.

Re: University

Maybe

Re: University

One of them will be for sure

Re: University

U Maine and to a lesser extent UVM will always be challenged because they are so far from 'everything'.
Especially compared to Boston.

Re: University

My son would go to any D1 school for hockey..anywhere!

you might, he might not... Maine, EVERY trip is 3+ hours on the bus. That gets old really fast.

They are both close to Quebec but nobody plays hockey up there anyway

Once upon a time...

No one wanted to play at Providence
No one wanted to play at Umass

Hire the right coach and everything can change.

It's not always the coach, both PC and UMass have great facilities. For UNH, UM nad UVM, their facilities are outdated, that's their big issue. Out of the 3, it's UVM that has the best chance of making a comeback, very reputable school, great city, and I believe they are updating their arena. UNH's problem is that they are to close to the Boston schools, and Maine, doesn't matter who they hire as a coach, know one wants to live in Orono anymore, too far away, and the arena is a dump!

Re: University

The only HE school that won't come back is MC. SB was the worst hire in college hockey history. Guy is killing the program. Should have kept MD.

Re: University

Is he killing it or is it that the recruits coming in/current players are not “killing it” ?

PC was 100% the coach Before Leahman came off a Union College Frozen Four appearance, the place was a was 35 yo dump! He made them changed everything. Providence put 18 million into upgrades to Schnieder Arena bc he told administration if they want to continue to grow they needed investment to lock down top players.

But now it is the facilities, as UNH, UVM and Maine still have crappy facilities

It's a sh_t hole

Re: University

Maine has a chance with new coaching. Need to stop recruiting grinders from Quebec and big d who can’t skate. Guite is gone and that is a plus. Rip Red but he was way past his prime. Never adapted to the modern game. Had good goalies and would’ve been much worse but for that one position

Re: University

Bingo. New coach and arena (which is great to watch a game) is old school great is getting an upgrade. Loud and fun. Coach is key to drawing the talent.
