New England junior hockey was always a joke. Before the NCDC and EHL, you had the Eastern Joke Hockey League which was a similar "rip off the parents and live the dream" league. The teams there routinely lost to outside competition (prep schools and NAHL) before the latter refused to play them anymore. In the rare event one of the players went to a D1 school, they were always healthy scratches and never received any scholarship money.
Thankfully we have the Generals, Nordiques, and Jr. Hat Tricks giving New England REAL junior hockey.
Rare D1? Healthy scratches? Wanna here a joke?
Forget NCDC but the list from the old EJHL to play in the NHL is a long one. Look it up.
NAHL is a good league no doubt.
It is not the promised land.
Plenty of NAHLplayers scrambling and will be truly lucky to land on D3 rosters.
It was bad and getting worse the COVID hit.
The next 3 yrs will be brutal with trickledown from high end D1 to lower end D3.
Truly relieved son is on the inside looking out.
people have to realize that d3 now is like d1 was 25 years ago.
USA Hockey, Mass Hockey, and affiliates have ruined Jr hockey in NE. Same as Jr hockey ruined HS hockey. Things change and the old school fails to adapt. No one has sanctioned a true tier 2 Jr league in New England. Which is nuts. This is the hotbed of college hockey. NAHL isn't viable here. There needs to be an east coast equivalent. And it isn't ehl. That crap show can't even manage itself..
I'll publish a full breakdown on all these leagues next week gentleman. Please subscribe!!
