IS it normal for teams to lock in playoff spots in January? Son called us this weekend and claims his team locked in a playoff spot with 2 months left to the season. True?

Seems to be true, 10 teams have clinched playoff position, so now just jockey for final position for 2 months? Can you say to many teams water down the product? Make the $$$$$$$$$$

When there are 70 teams in the league, you bet it is normal.

I know that each team pays thousands each year as a fee to the league, and each rostered player pays a usphl fee along with a usa hockey fee that is hundreds of dollars. Multiply that by each team and each player and it comes out to a ton of money.
Starting to wonder now why they don't at least include HockeyTV for free to the billet families.
