So then why did you want 5 D originally? Not happy and this coaching staff is a joke. Parents on this team are only staying to have a shot at the Q (which is ridiculous). We are giving up 2 years of key development for our kids. It is wrong to tell us one thing (5 d) and then change it knowing we are stuck with IHC because all other teams are full.
I want to go back to you just caring about your kids. At least everyone had playing time then. You chose trying to get the most talent on a team over helping your child develop. Why are you coaching anyway? Is it an ego thing?
So true. Not on IHC but same stuff everywhere. Promised one thing get another after you sign. Sadly you are stuck there for a year. As for q forget about it. Go to a team your kid will develop. Most local teams play one game at q lose and come home. Frustrating.
Yes, but if your kid goes to the Q you can say "my kid played in the Q". Don't you know that is worth more than development? What is wrong with you. Good luck at least 3 of you will be cut next year and not even make it to the Q.
Nothing worse than adults who come on this board and pick apart teams they either have nothing to do with or were formerly of. I am speaking in general with regards to all teams none in specific. You are just bitter your kid hasn't lived up to your expectations. Because your kid was probably average at best it now gives you the green light to tell everyone how things should work. The reality is you are the last person to be spewing out advice as you failed your own kid. Hence why you are on this site trying to set people straight. You probably have a collection of different team sweat suites in your kids closet, And let me guess...he got screwed at every one of those organizations. Coach didn't develop him? It's the coaches job to teach the game of hockey and if the kid has any ability he will develop naturally while learning to play the game properly. Just because you pay 2-4K doesn't mean the coaches can wave the magic wand over your kid and turn him into a top end talent. As Jack Parker has been quoted "the team who steps off the bus with the most talent is usually the team that wins".

Well said with the vast majority of your input, having said this, seeing that you're quoting Jack Parker, do some research and see what he says about youth hockey and what one should look to get out of their youth program. It would be enlightening for all. Lastly 99.9% of the youth players today in this age group are average.....it's the parents that see things differently.
Not true little man. My kid did and still will play in the EHF. The beauty of you guys getting screwed is that you, parents and coaches, have a terrible reputation. You have a model that is wrong for youth hockey. Ask yourself this. When you decided to sign 10 forwards was it ok that you then have to automatically cut a kid the next year? So you signed players knowing it was a 1 year deal. That is so wrong for 10 year old hockey. I have no problem with cutting kids that haven't developed and doing what is best for their skill level. Think about it, you are going to have to cut a few kids that might be very good, worked very hard, was loyal and committed. This isn't D1 hockey. Shame on you and I know for a fact parents of the D are p'd off.

Come on man, you got to admit the Q is pretty cool. I know my kid would love to go and I would love to be there to watch.
I agree. I think the kids getting to have the experience raises their own level of expectations throughout the rest of their playing time. Playing in those games might not mean a lot for development (if anything) but kids carry that with them and it can't hurt.
And as far as the cost, a wise man once posted "If your worry is about money, might I suggest you found the wrong sport"
I don't get your whole beef with having 10 forwards. So you roll 3 lines you need 9 and you also need an extra kid incase one gets hurt, gets sick, can't make it...do you only 'play' with one goalie when you know only one will be on the ice at any given time? Same with D. You expect 3 pairs and an extra. Going to a big tournament you would hate to have a short bench and have that bite you when you're trying to be prepared and give the kids the experience.
Can't wait to see how many kids end up on e9 mid season or maybe before season starts. 10 fwds is a joke unless you told one family your kid is not playing unless.....
10 Elite Level forwards is a problem all coaches would like to have and if they aren't all elite, then that # will become 9 on its own. I am unfamiliar with this team, but i can only guess that they had a 2 for 1 deal to get an absolute stud or the assistant coach/best friend of head coach hasn't figured out yet his son doesn't belong. Either way, the odd man out will figure it out.
Didn't a team from E9 beat the 05 EHF Champs this season?...isn't this something the IHC hasn't done since mites?
Advantage Ice parents are delusional. They beat the EHF champs the first week of the season using a player that plays on an 04 team from another program. The player is not even on the roster. This kid was the best player on the Advantage Ice during that tournament. The week before, the Advantage Ice played a tournament in NJ again using two players that were not on their roster. They used the best player on the N.E Falcons and the nest player on Assabet. The Ice finished 2-3 and had they used their on players would have gone 0-5. Please don't let the facts get in the way of your bragging. When you win with your own players then you can brag.
Also, your team is not the #2 team in Massachusetts as you so often claim. Looking at My Hockey Rankings the Ice are #22 Overall and #6 in Massachusetts behind the BJE's, MMF, IHC, ECW and BJT's. Again, don't let the facts get in the way of your bragging.

No they should actually be considered #1 right? Didn't they knock off the "top" team head to head? The Eagles were made up of 1/3 E9 players who the year before couldn't beat the Ice either. The IHC did the smartest thing possible by not playing them head to head this season. You had teams like the SSK (top 5 EHF Team who lost to IHC 3-2 on last minute goal in playoffs) lose and tie to the #3 E9 Assabet team. Comical that you think there is a big gap.
Kings is the dirtiest team in the league. IHC Dominated game against them in playoffs. Kids had to stand up for themselves after two periods of slashing checking. Penalties late in third caused game to be so close.
I have IHC, Flames, terriers then Eagles as well. Need to improve. Eagles got complacent with squirt championship. No major upgrades. Eagle land will be calling for heads just like they were after Ice loss.

Good luck with that. Get a premier player first (we have a few) Then we can talk.
If you have to ask, you'll never get it. Can't steal those from E9. No one left in E9, anyway. Good luck recruiting. This year's parents will be picking kids up at Logan next season. And driving them to airport for Q.
Hahaha...close like every other game. Difference next year is one team drastically improved and the other for argument sake stayed the same. I hope U are in top 6 because bottom 6 Eagles will be sent to Siberia after a mediocre performance.

Close but not quite there. Nice try though. Hope your kid is top 6,though. Heard you are already recruiting for PW major season. You guys keep cutting and signing. How'd that work out the last 2 years. Your ship has sunk while Eagles soar.
Do people realize every EHF,E9 and any other tier 1 team signs better talent up year over year. Well at least they try to. The teams that don't are the teams that stay at the bottom year over year.
This should be an interesting year from what I am hearing. Eagles made a few changes and Islanders made a lot. So at the end of next year if the Eagles won than the Islander coaches cant say a word and should be let go. After all they are admitting that they have superior talent - so what else could it be.
If the Islanders win then the Eagles have to admit they made a mistake by not upgrading more players and will need to rebuild for the good of the team.
At this stage it should be all about developing players and enjoying the experience of playing youth hockey. The coaches and parents think this is pro hockey. Obviously we all want to win but it's not the end all at this level. Playing 10F and 6D is a no win situation. Especially when you have three coaches all with kids playing and 2 others parents that are very influential in the decision making process. There will be bickering all season starting day one regardless of how the team is performing. I know parents on that team and it has already started. There are some good parents in the Islander camp but as a group they are brutal. They will sell each other out in a heartbeat. It has been going on for three years and now that they think they brought in some new talent to get over the hump everything will suddenly get better. Beware, the new players were promised a lot and ultimately this will get ugly.
You're still complaining about the three lines? Go and learn something about the game of hockey, learn about what a team typically consists of and why, learn what it's about travelling 500 miles to a tournament and having 3-4 kids come down with a fever, learn what it takes to compete at a high level, learn that a shift is not suppose to be more than 35-45 seconds of total effort...relax and take it all in, you have a ways to go.
6 D is normal, where do these parents get these ideas? You can't go with 4 simply incase one gets a penalty (a minute and a half shift is too long and then your pairings afterwards would be screwed too) or one gets dinged-up and odd # pairings have the kids playing both walls and that messes with right shot / left shot positioning. At higher level, faster games 4 D would get run out of the rink...do these people know anything about hockey?
Is there a more dysfunctional team than the 05 Islanders? Why anyone would want their kid playing on this team is the real question? It's going to be a long year that will not end well.
Or play for any Islander team? Gallant was removed as a coach of the 07 team cuz he was porking half the moms on the team, and something is up with the 06 as they downgraded their talent.
05 Islanders are just fine. Team actually gets along great. One knucklehead but everyone knows it and he is under a microscope.few unhappy parents after cuts but that is normal. Time heals all wounds.

That's says everything about how you think. You think team first and child second. You are so correct if your goal is what is best for program. Parents will realize that in time. Coaches and parents should be doing what is best for player and that doesn't even come into your mind. Sad.
