I have an older boy who plays and as they get older I kind of hate the secretive nature of the teams. He's been on teams that fail to provide rosters in tournaments, fail to post rosters on the web and once they get to Bantams / Midgets being found is very important and you pay the team to help get the kid to the next level and they fail to help.
Older kids, I agree. What's the use of going to a "showcase" tournament for bantam age and up and not providing your team's roster for the tournament website, or your own website for that matter?
But for younger kids, it's a privacy issue. Don't we all have to sign off just for them to get their picture taken in school these days?

Those going to look at kids at showcases know exactly who they're looking at. They don't need a roster. But if it makes you feel better to see your kid in print then tell your lazy coach to enter his name.
cuts down on the complaining about who made what team over another kid, kids leaving because so and so is on the team, etc... until the season starts !

Good point, but don't you think they should at least fake it and put the names out there? Not as if it costs anything but a few minutes of time.
Why don't you just tell us what team is blocking their roster creeper?!?
Every Fed team...creeper. Nothing wrong with knowing your competition.
agree that there is nothing wrong with knowing your competition but really, who cares at this point in time. How much turnover is there on a fed roster? on average maybe 2 kids. I'm sure an expert will pop up to correct me but in the end does it really matter if you can see another teams roster? Would you even know half the kids on it? The only parents I can think of that seemed somewhat nervous were Eagles parents and that's because the Eagles started tier 1 teams for next season so some of the parents that I spoke with were a little bit worried who would be coming in during try outs.
I agree that the rosters should be posted. Some of the kids worked extremely hard to make a team and are proud of their accomplishments. My son keeps checking his teams page waiting for them to update it. Unfortunately, they still have kids that have been out of the program for three years listed. Is it wrong for a kid to want to see his name on a roster, with his team colors and his new teammates so he can show is friends and be proud of his accomplishments.
