Re: Lake Placid Tournament

Thank you! Just wanted to know what opinions were out there. Someone should start a civil board where decent discussions can take place. Maybe one that requires a login to hold people accountable.

Anyway thanks for the response!

Re: Lake Placid Tournament

The crowne Plaza on the hill is without a doubt the best. Log cabin feel in the bar, short walk to rink and village. Best time to go is during the winter. Kids can skate on the oval, bobsled and so much more. Great take, enjoy.

Re: Lake Placid Tournament

Crowne Plaza is most convenient and best quality. There are others nearby, Golden Arrow, can't remember the one downtown, but that has no pool. We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard last November, half-mile out of town, but real nice facility. Big common room and a bistro that serves food around dinner. Also they have Starbucks. Most of the in-town hotels go quick.

Re: Lake Placid Tournament

crowne plaza is also where all of the included meals (that are not good) are held as well as the party/slide show on the last night of tourney

Re: Lake Placid Tournament

Hotel Northwoods does not have a pool. It is right in town and very convenient to the rinks, but no pool. We were worried about the lack of a pool, but there's so much to do around there, we wouldn't have had time to go in the pool anyway. The ski jumping complex was pretty great.

Re: Lake Placid Tournament

Crowne Plaza is #1, Golden Arrow is #2, IMO.
Both are short walks to rink. Depending on time of year, that hill down from CP could be dicey for cars/buses. Golden Arrow is closer to restaurants/bars in town......but both provide convenient locations to everything.

Food that comes with team package is average at best, so you'll find yourself wanting to eat out at least half the time.

Re: Lake Placid Tournament

We've been twice. IMO the Golden Arrow was the best place to stay. All food is served there that is included and was much better than the Crown Plaza food. Easy, close walk to the rink.
