My son, a 03, was approached this past weekend by a member of the Eaglebrook school staff to discuss going there in the future. We are from CT and don't really know much about the academic/athletic program, and cant find much on the internet about its history, etc...anyone here ever look into the school or better yet go there?

quite honestly your not missing anything, just overpaying for Middle School.
SO a couple of pervs come up to you asking to have your son go to a middle school and you run to the dboard to get answers wft
Nope, no pervs. Just an assistant coach and I was hoping to get some info from people who may have gone there and it's WTF.. Not WFT.. Apparently you didn't go to Eaglebrook.

typical Dboard response from the Dbag tough guys. you get these losers on every thread. Not sure why they think they are so funny because it never is.
Eaglebrook is very good academically and used to be strong in Hockey. Over the last few years they have de-emphasized hockey ( I think athletics in general). Will help your son get into a strong prep school, but be prepared to find other hockey options in the off season.
Hillside is better hockey, but lacking in the education and culture ( from what I have heard).
Cardigan Mountain School is probably the best of both.
The Prep schools in the Boston areas (ST Sebs and Belmont Hill- Nobles, Rivers, Milton, etc) are the best but, either day schools or 5 day boarding.
If you are interested in the Jr prep school experience, definitely worth checking them out. Can be a great experience but can be very pricey!
Jr prep Fessenden seems to be top academically and their hockey team only lost by a goal to Hillside the game we saw? Thoughts on Fessenden... With a big financial aide package of course!

That would have been Fessedens Varsity team vs Hillsides Junior Varsity team.
oh ok I see ..Hillside 7th/8th versus Fess 8th/9th grade? I think the Education is much better at Fessenden and worth the slight difference in hockey. But either way if a prep or jr prep really want you for sports they give you the $$.

The education is much better at Fessenden, but the hockey is a big drop. Better off at CMS or Eaglebrook or better yet a private day school while playing for a local club. All depends on the experience you are looking for? Any teen that was able to experience any of the aforementioned would be very fortunate for sure.
So if we're looking for best blend of academics/prep curriculum + hockey, it's Cardigan, then Fessenden, then Eaglebrook?
Does Cardigan have a track record for offering decent FA packages? Asking as they've shown interest in my 7th grader. Being from Mid-Atlantic, we're hesitant, but are carefully evaluating options and will do so through next Spring......but for any New England pre-prep/prep situation to work, we would need net-tuition to start with a "2". Is that even a possibility for a mid-level prospect?
