Are teams Elite based on League, win loss? what if you're in an Elite league but winless does that mean you're now Select or say you're undefeated in AAA does that mean you're now Elite?
What's the difference between Tier 1, AAA and Select?
In general, maybe. But using the rankings probably isn't the best way to do this. I know many strong players who are currently playing on sh*tty teams and I know many weak players who are playing on strong teams.
Is it made up of the best hockey players from your area or just outside - probably elite, as in every kid on your team would be the best kid on your Town A Team
if it is made up of a few good kids and then other kids who are bottom Town A or even top Town B then your team is probably not elite.
if your team didn't cut kids or was short numbers and took a few kids who probably didn't belong, they are not elite.
the names mean nothing, the league means nothing.
and even the above is stretch depending on where you live or play, but basically if you are the top team in the area with the top kids consider yourself elite
Pay zero attention to the monikcers of elite, Tier 1 and AAA. because there are bad AAA and Select Teams that are better than elite teams around here !
Someone needs to create about 5 sticky posts so these conversations don't have to happen over and over every time some newbie finds the dboard.
Those sticky topics should include:
1) Rank the leagues and levels.
2) Why the FED teams and E9 teams don't have exhibition games
3) How to pick a coach
4) Summer skills vs Summer tournaments vs Playing baseball or lacrosse
5) How to know if your kid is going to be cut

You are not talking about individual players - its about ELITE teams.
it really starts with a parents extreme sense of superiority as your wear the hats and jackets of your elite team. as a parent, you know you are better once you put on that EHF elite jacket and wear that hat! you will know the feeling when it happens - good luck with your search...
If the guy really is a newbie, then the answer is "elite" only means your team is the top team at a given age level for a particular organization. It doesn't suggest the team or players are actually elite. Next level down is either called "Select" or "Tier 1" or "AAA".
