Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

This thread is about 2007s and at the 2007 birth year all of the NE talent with the exception of small few is in the FED. Not speaking about other birth years as this is not what the thread is about.
There are a handful of players on BA and maybe 1-2 other kids on a few E9 rosters that, at this point in their development, could crack the roster of a top 6 team in the FED.
Fact.

All of the NE talent? Listen, these kids just started tying their shoes, and can't even tie their own skates. You will see in a year or two kids come out of the woodwork and little Johnny gets past by. It's really tough to label a kid as Elite at 6. The are one of two things, the biggest kid or the fastest kid and that can change exponentially at that age and that Elite 6 year old gets left in the dust with hurt feelings (more Parents hurt feelings) and then they are left to admit they are really a tier one player or they need to work their A$$ off to catch up. Very difficult predicting talent at 7,8, even 10 years old. The sooner you figure that out, the better.

If you ask me, you're better off with a kid that is upper half but not "super elite" at mites and squirts. The game is unrealistically easy for the kids that are big and fast very young, and gives them (and parents) a false sense of security. The kids with good athletic ability that do not dominate at young ages have an easier route, IMO. The early superstars have it tough when the rest start to catch up and they just start having to really work at it at age 10 or 12, while the others have been working at it since age 8 or 9.

correct, but when your 7 year old is the big one or fast one at 7, parents think they are on the NHL path and we see these kind of posts

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

More than half of my kids Mite A Town team has moved on to club hockey, and a few more could probably make the transition too. But a few years past that we are now seeing some of those kids make elite teams and some make Tier 1 teams.

Poster is spot on about being in the upper half but not the top at that young age, because now that they are in Pee Wee's its the dad whose kid was the best on that Mite team, saying that he is not the player he once once and does not seem to enjoy it much anymore. While most of the other that were middle of that pack are ecstatic with the kids development.

He is the same player and kid he was, just everyone else has caught up or surpassed him, and the tops kids are now kids that were middle of that pack on that Mite team but you could see the athletic ability.

One of the biggest issues with Mites and first year squirts is the kids that have been playing for three or four years already vs the kid who is playing their first or second year.

Like I said in the thread about the 08's...the best 08's have not even started playing hockey yet !

My point exactly. Ideal spot by squirt major is one of the final cuts for the Brick team. Kid is right there but not a superstar. And you don't have to shell out for plane tickets to Edmonton!

That is comical - I have two kids that are nearing the end of the youth hockey journey. They both played elite hockey from an early age and they both have played FED and E9. Currently one is playing E9 and one FED. Your touching yourself if you think your league is even marginally better than "the other league". They are the same period - you might find yourself on a team in one league that has a couple of stronger players or a better coach and your team might beat a team from the other league but that doesn't mean s**t. You could take 95% of any roster in FED and swap with 95% of any E9 roster. The top 5% of the roster determines which team has the edge, everyone else is roughly at the same level. They may be coached differently and they may gel better or worse but they are all pretty good young players that will probably play HS hockey if they stick with it. Get your head out of your a** and stop trying to pump your chest about your kid's league - wtf is that?!?! Enjoy the experience, find the best coach you can and try to surround yourself with kids and parents that share your values - blink and it's over.

Agreed. BA may be good but unfortunately we will never find out. They were able to duck IHC in SuperSeries and are not entered in any legit tournaments the rest of the way. E9 Invite should be good but sure they will find a way to avoid JrSabres and Mid-Fairfield in parity.

Pretty sure that BA didn't "duck" the IHC at the superseries, it is kind funny how of IHC got to play REAL home games at Merrimack college...and BA some ducked them....someone had pull here and used it..

Oh. Ok grouchy BA father whos son is headed for college scholarships. Sounds like your a fun guy to hang around. Do you remember all scores of every game and every shot/goal your kid got? Here's your or pat pat on the back big guy. Welcome to the long road of any sport your kid plays. Oh wait. Your kid is going to college next year as at 10. I forgot. TL is his agent now, he is so in!

First of all..my son doesn't even play for BA, but at one time he did play in the EHF. While he was in the EHF I noticed some teams from IHC received some special treatment. I have never heard of a SuperSeries team getting actual REAL home games throughout the ENTIRE tournament.
FYI...my son is an 07, but he plays in the second class E9!

You can't even do that right

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

I've heard BA 07 has a good team but they never seem play the EHF top teams. Is BA 07 entered into any top tourneys this year? Would be good for them to play some good teams.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

FED teams ducking BA. Plain and simple.

BA will crush most on that list all season long. Your living in a pipe dream.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

Watched the new 07 BB team play and they looked pretty good. Once that team starts to gel and hit mid season form watch out.

Agreed. Should just have full scholarships sent over now. They're already good enough. No sense in having them play games and risk injury before college.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

1. IHC
2. MMF
3. BA
4. BJT
5. MFF
6. BJE
7. VJW
8. SSK
9. TG
10. BSB

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

VJW - are you kidding?

BA has to play someone first.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

VJW upgrades at goalie and def this season made them a much better team. Played BA close and let one slip against WIZ, will be contender by end of season. Coaches and Org developing a good team.
Can compete with any of the top teams.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

I think everybody is missing the RI Saints ranked 11 in the US according to MYHOCKEY RANKING. Just the facts
1 Middlesex Islanders (Elite) 07 AAA 15-0-0 92.73 6.06 86.67
2 St Clair Shores Stars 07 5-2-1 91.61 2.62 88.99
3 Long Island Gulls 07 AAA 12-2-0 91.38 4.85 86.52
4 Minuteman Flames (Elite) 07 AAA 9-2-0 90.80 3.72 87.08
5 Buffalo Jr Sabres 07 AAA 9-2-0 90.70 2.90 87.79
6 Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 07 AAA 5-2-0 90.09 3.57 86.52
7 Boston Advantage (Elite) 07 AAA 8-0-0 89.86 5.12 84.73
8 Dallas Stars Elite 07 AAA 5-2-0 89.81 2.00 87.81
9 Sylvania North Stars 07 A 4-2-0 89.67 2.16 87.50
10 Mercer Chiefs 07 AAA 7-0-1 89.42 4.62 84.80
11 Rhode Island Saints 07 AAA 7-1-0 89.24 4.50 84.74

So that would put them 4th on the list for New England

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

Going 0-1-2 this weekend will drop them a few spots...
RI Saints were high because of weak E9 schedule, same as BA.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

Can't be serious....
VJW improved. Really?

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

IHC top team, no real competition in NE. Would beat BA, MMF and MFF 10 out of 10 times.

I don't know about 10 out of 10 times but definitely at least 9.5 out of ten times. They are a fun team to watch, unless your team is getting crushed by them. They are fast, disciplined and well coached. They also have a deep bench which really exposes teams with subpar 2nd and 3rd lines.

The worst thing about that team is the UPS Dad who thinks he is from 8 mile. It's a shame because his kid is really talented and nice.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

Not much has changed here, according to MHR 07 rankings are similar to OP list. E9 will eventually fall off as their schedule points will continue to drop as they do not play anyone. Sad that BA goes to Chicago as BBB as opposed to BA. Done this way to both fatten wallets and keep BA from getting exposed...

1.) IHC
2.) MMF
3.) MFF
4.) BJT
5.) NEJF
6.) BJE
7.) BA
8.) ECW
9.) SSK
10.) TG

Top 10 New England 07 Teams

1) Islanders
2) Flames
3) Boston Advantage
4) Mid Fairfield
5) Boston Junior Terriers
6) Falcons
7) Boston Junior Eagles
8) South Shore Kings
9) Assabet Valley Patriots
10) Top Gun

MMF vs IHC this weekend should be interesting but don't think MMF will prevail.

Any other interesting match-ups?

Any Surprises so far this season?

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

Wizards are top 6 and probably Lovell Knights along with Tier 1 teams Islanders and Ct Jr Rangers in the mix with Patriots, Kings, Top Gun.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

Wizards and BA are both frauds, unfortunately neither of them will play anyone this season...wonder why coaches of these '2 top teams' are not traveling or entering touraments??? Keep playing the boston jr rangers, valley jr warriors and seacoast spartans...frauds.

Re: 07 Elite Power Rankings

IF Boston Advantage and Islanders Hockey Club are as good as hyped up to be, they should both take care of business and post big wins tomorrow. However, Boston Advantages' win over Wizards is meaningless as both teams are average at best.

Frauds? You're funny. Why do people think the thing to do is take a squirt minor (9 years old) all over North America to prove world dominance? These 07 teams may be rated high and all that, but let me tell you something: the hockey is terrible. Awful. The kids have a long way to go.

Maybe some people don't want to miss school, spend an entire weekend away watching their kids run the hallways of some hotel in Michigan, then play maybe 1 or 2 teams that are better than the competition they would get at home anyway. The travel to tournaments at 9 and 10 years old is pure ego...coaches and parents. Wait until peewee to start getting out there, when at least the kids can appreciate playing against kids from other regions and seeing a new city.

Yes, it looks like the days of SSK being a top program have come to an end. Not much going on at any of the SSK levels.
