U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Anyone know which teams from the EHF and E9 are getting into the state tournament?

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Yes

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

none will are close to as good as last years u14 eagles

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Is this year's u14 eagles team in the state tournament?

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

EHF supposedly has 3 bids. IHC and SSK have qualified. Eagles must beat SSK this weekend and get help Flames need to beat terriers. If terriers beat flames they are in as the third team. In other words the third team is up for grabs and will be settled this weekend. Heard that Walpole Express also in. Anyone know about other teams in E9?

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Walpolr express is tier 2.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. Also, the Walpole Express is in at Tier 1. I know some people associated with the team. There are a total of 8 bids for the Tier 1 tourney, 3 for the EHF, 4 for the E9 and 1 "at large" which included any independent teams and teams in the MPDHL Premier.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

I think all of those mentioned are for the chance to play-in to make it to nationals....all of those extras get the chance to go but must win-out to make it.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Looks like Flames are last EHF team to qualify. Who are the other teams in this tournament? SSK IHC and MMF from EHF and Walpole express are in. Who else and when does schedule come out?

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Express a really good Tier 2 team. And yes, they are a registered tier 2 team, not tier 1.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Then why would the enter the tier 1 tournament?,(before you say they didnt yes they did enter the tier 1 tournament ) they are going to get killed

The Walpole Express U14 team (the one RB coaches) is absolutely in the Tier 1 NB tournament. They won the "at large" spot which included teams in the MPDHL and independent teams. They are listed on MHR as tier 2 because they don't play in the EHF Elite or E9. MHR ranking means nothing to USA Hockey or MA Hockey.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Do we know who the other teams are yet? Game one on Friday. So far SSK IHC MMF and Walpole. Who else ??????

What does it matter?

6 teams of cannon fodder leading up to the goalie loaded SSK beating the now goalie-less IHC in the finals.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Notice how the host organization manipulated the schedule to not have to play the kings? I'll give him credit, RB can sell ice to an Eskimo and clearly doesn't have mug of a gag reflux.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Secretly funny post.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

I'm totally shocked that the tier 1 u14 state tournament has come down to the Kings vs Islanders. Kidding. As expected the e9 teams did not fare well at all and the express didn't even belong in the same rink let alone the same sheet of ice.

The E9 teams didnt belong either. The Terriers and Eagles from the EHF are far superior to any team from the E9. The Islanders beat the VJW by 10 goals. Notice BA hid from taking their beatings?

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

02 ADV taking their "beatings" playing up a year in the T1EHL U15 division, and facing local area U16 teams on their off-league weekends. Nice try though!!!!

Congratulations on your NESC participant trophy

BA wouldnt be within 5 goals of the SSK or Islanders. Sorry but they wouldnt.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

rumor has it that BA never even registered to participate in the state tournament which is why wizards, rats, and rifles were in. teams needed to register in the summer. terriers would have and should have been in but EHF got 3 bids while E9 got 4. what was the logic behind that ? Terriers probably would have made the semi finals for an all 4 EHF playoff round. BJE would have been better than the E9 teams but not by much.

Express was in tough bracket. if they were in SSK bracket they would have been in the semi final as they were better than the E9 teams. They would have easily handled the Rats and Rifles. VJW and Express would have been a good game. Express smoked the wizards

Just a case of mass hockey not having a clue. The state tournament should be the best teams that are selected - not politically correct teams from across different leagues just to appease people. Some of those teams had no right participating and that kept a few deserving teams (Eagles/Terriers) out.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Well I suggest you volunteer yourself and make sure your team (son's) doesn't miss out on the U15, U16, U18 tournaments. the process starts in May with the reg. fee to MA hockey. No registration completed over the summer and your already not involved in the process. Then you need to put a nice binder together with all the USA hockey paperwork, birth certificates, coaches credential (make sure he's a lev. 4 or it doesn't matter), Then you need to keep every game sheet with the USA Hockey roster on the score sheet. Make sure there are no Alts or fill-ins on those game sheets because those game results won't count. Then take a few hours, about 3, on a Wednesday night in November and attend the State credentials meeting. There MA hockey will go through each game sheet and compare to the USA hockey roster. Any funny business game doesn't count. After you attend the meeting they'll go through all the teams who registered and compare eligible results. MA Hockey will invite top couple of teams from FED/E9 if paperwork is completed. MA hockey will also extend invite to a Western MA team, an at-large / independent bid and one bid to MSPHL.

Now go forth and get it done.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Which Wizard team is in the Tier 1 ? The 02's, 03's or 04's? there is a wizard team in the tier 2 , I would assume the 03's are in the tier 1 and maybe 04's? in the tier 2, no way the 02 team is in this , they are not good

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

02 E9 team is u14 tier 1

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Well then there's a easy win for everyone else

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

They will struggle. They have added some goodplayers for u14 but 02 wiz never had a solid core. 03's and 04's will be better when they compete at u14 in the coming years.

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Why aren't the Eagles and/or Terriers in this instead of crappy teams like Rats, Rifles and Wizards. Granted the Kings or IHC will mostly likely win but shouldn't they want the best teams possible in this?

Political correctness.

Are you referring to the Eagles team that lost to the crappy Rats team?

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Eagles are bad and terriers are ok. Could they have replaced a couple of teams? Yes but it really doesn't matter. There are not a lot of good teams at this level. It will come down to SSK IHC and Flames. SSK will have to play one of those teams in the semi finals which give them a tougher road as either IHC or flames will get a "bye" (rifles, vjw or rats) to the final.

having no kids at that age yet, and being new to this, can someone explain how that process works. do they play a NB tournament and the winner gets to go to nationals?

Re: U14 Tier 1 National Bound 2016-2017

Exactly right. U14 is the last year of youth hockey. A few " super teams" are put together and they play each other for a trip to nationals. There are a few levels with tier 1 as the highest. These are u14 half season teams as most of the kids will play HS hockey after thanksgiving.
