What ever happened with that team that had all the ties from that post a month or so back? There was some coach hating going on there. If those ties turned to wins I'm assuming he's back in the good graces. If they've been going the other way.....

Gotta admit there are teams with players who definitely have the potential but the coaches don't know how to develop them. At 5+k a year the question is legit.

if it is the wrong coach you are on the wrong team. put development over league and you might be surprised of what you can find.
We left and EHF elite team and went to AAA team. Our oldest played 3 years on the closest team to our house which happen to be EHF elite. the team was good, 2nd in the country for 2 of those 3 years. We moved and could have stayed on the team but logistically the traveling would have been considerable. We also felt the coach's focus was not on development, just to win. Not to make each player better. logistically would have put our son in the car a lot longer and wouldn't be fair to younger siblings who were now playing. We picked the best team closest to our new house. It was a AAA team in a lower league, but the coaches sole focus was on development, making good plays, seeing the ice and fixing mistakes. my kid got a lot better and had a lot more time with the puck. as an 8th grader his old EHF team kept calling him back to play. He played for them when he could (always put his local team 1st) and as 9th grader played with those same EHF kids and was better than most. Leaving the EHF for AAA was the best thing for him. He got better each season and those 3 years in lower league didn't hurt him one bit quite the opposite. It's all about the coaching nothing to do with the league.

+1 on this reply. Put aside your ego and go with the best coach, even if not in the best league.
I think unfortunately you have to leave, or risk earning a reputation as a nightmare parent. I've been taking my kid a little further from home for years avoiding the closest option because of the situation there. Would love the convenience of playing there, but not worth the angst. There are too many options in our area to let yourself become "that guy".
