IS JM really doing a U14 with the prospects? How is that going to work and where will they skate out of, kids from NY, VT, CT, MA, NJ. Its on the website so it must be true!

Heard the program was a supplement to existing U-14 programs, not sure though that Falcons / Huskies is the way it will go.

what about the idea of half season winter teams? I have seen a few examples where the organization keeps the better U14's together in the fall for a split season team..... both 8th and 9th graders. Then when fall split season ends and high school starts.... the 8th graders and some of the 9th graders stay together and form a winter half season team. There should always be a kid or two from other organizations in the area that fall into the same bucket to help fill out the team.

the idea is having trouble gaining traction, but I think it is really the best way to handle it.... otherwise, if you are a 8th grade U14... the best option might just be skills and maybe a few tournaments to supplement the missing games. who wants to do just that?

but yes... everyone is spot on that the U14 is a mess of a year. It is the major downside to USAH going with strict birth years, not school year, and with parents insisting that their johnny freshman plays varsity and rides the pine.

Update: Now I see people are skipping Bantam Major all together and going right to U16? Hope Trump doesn't cancel your health insurance because your kid is going to need it! Our oldest played up but he was 6 Feet tall and about 155lbs and he still got killed, every game, it took a huge toll on his body. Now we have applications from 13/14 year old 100lb kids coming in who can barely compete at the level they are at now. OK, you asked for it.
