Anyone who plays in the EHF is and EHF team. An independent team schedules their own games with any team that will play them. I think what the earlier poster means is that most of the teams at the top of the EHF don't have teams playing in EHF elite which makes them that organizations Elite team. Those that have 2nd teams and no teams in Elite have their teams in the EMHL. However, their elite or highest team only plays EHF tier 1. Makes sense that they are at the top of tier 1. Question really is, why aren't they in Elite of they have two teams, and if they were, how would they really do?
EHF has not, and probably will not, allow any new teams into the Elite club. All Elite teams have to vote yes, which they will not, to protect their own turf. EHF does not want to water down the talent pool like Tier 1 has.

Agreed that's why FED does it but poster is correct. Their "elite" team is playing FED tier 1.
