My son did Future Stars and I thought it was quite good. Depending on which team you played, some are better than others.
I agree, the talent in Future Stars varies from town to the occasional elite kid.
But the guys at FMC do a great job running the league – the practice and game schedules always posted well in advance; updated website; a fun skills/all-star game; a social media presence that the kids eat up.
I have an 04 playing in the league and I think the exposure playing against bigger, quicker 03 kids is going to prove valuable in the upcoming season. Plus, the practices have been excellent.
For my son and I, we would rather do this than jamming 4-5 games on a summer weekend for a tournament team.
SE Town Cup has been a blast. Kids playing together that are on the same baseball teams, go the the same schools etc.
They're having a blast and that's what counts. Good forbid a kid actually smiles on the ice or in the locker room!
I had my doubts going in but I thought overall it was a good tournament. The kids are having a great time. My kid really enjoyed playing with his friends from school who play town. Granted there are some disparities in play between the town and club kids with the club kids playing at a little bit of a faster pace but somehow that made for some competitive and fun games. It was well run with the games starting on time or in some cases early. The other parents were great. Most everyone was there just to have a good time and not take it serious and it made for a great experience.
