at U 14 the notion of why play the season because Assabet will be that good is nonsense,they may win but having watched their new players in the July summer event I'm not buying the hype.

I would suggest to both of you that the tournament organizer thought the Neapean division was the easiest because that's where they put their own team

6 teams could have won this, congrats to Minnesota on the championship and a great win by Neapean over Stoney Creek

Agreed that no MA teams can compete at that level. MA hockey needs to look at MN to see what they are doing? MN was the best team. Faster, more aggressive than anyone else there. Granted it was an AllStar team, but not many of the MA top girls would make the MN team, in spite of what their parents think.

Not sure Little Caesar belongs on your list.

Is that why the Wizards girls were sitting in the rink during the Assabet Ottawa game and were cheering for Ottawa.......you say they have "friends" on other teams, yet wanted their "friends" to lose. Let's face it, for a kids sport, the haters are the parents and the kids reflect their parents attitudes in the way they behave. It really is a sad, petty way to be. Especially since these kids could all end up on the same team sometime in the future.

I think girls are both allowed to have friends on other teams, while simultaneously rooting against their rivals. I'm pretty sure the girls are capable of complex thinking.

Who knew that being a supportive friend required "complex thinking". Kids seem to handle player movement better than parents.

The other major issue here is college scouts coming to watch 9th (or even 8th graders). Talk about throwing gas on a fire.

You guys, college is 4 to 5 years away. Alot could happen in those years. It seems like a tremendous amount of pressure on these kids. We have to let our girls grow into the people they want to become. It's not our journey.

Little Caesars were dreadful, Missasaugua dodged a bullet against AV and AV split with Mission (first game was close, second game not even). So yes AV is in those 6.

2 of the 3 Wizards forwards that went to AVP did just fine at NAHA. You are kidding yourself if you think that those that left were/are better.

I think the new U8( full time season) is where all the hype will be this year.

Find a good coach and a team that they like. Focus on skating, skating, skating, and then skills. Most of the coaches out there don’t know what they are doing and didn’t play at an elite level when they were younger and won’t be able to do anything to help you daughter and will most likely even negativity affect their development. You have to do your research on the individual coaches and teams not necessarily the programs as a whole. DON’T ASSUME A GOOD PROGRAM WILL HAVE A GOOD COACH/TEAM AT EVERY LEVEL BECAUSE THEY WONT. Hopefully you can find something close to your home for logistics purposes.

My advice is to only have your daughter play with boys if they can play at an elite boys level. Having her play for a low level boys team will not help them because the skill level and coaching will not be good and they will most likely be physically outmatched. If they are good enough (which will only be the case at they are either really big or elite skaters with solid skills) and driven to do so, have them play for an elite boys team and also a top girls team but prioritize the girls team because that will be where they foster their lifelong friendships and have the best experiences which is what they will remember later in life. That is a LOT of hockey for a young player and their family so only go this route if they love the game and you are a little crazy (in a good way) because if not you will just burn them out and they might be good when younger but will eventually burn out and get passed by other players who maintain their drive and peak later.
