Truth is, if the coach is a beloved son of the organization then the kid ain't getting going anywhere.
Welcome to America! Where politics are alive and well!
I am not a coach. You should have some sack and pull your kid off the team. Or maybe coach the team yourself with all that NHL experience you have.
Most coaches have no shame. Especially the ones still coaching their kid after pee wees. How about this daddy coach, have your bender go see if he can make a team without your involvement.
Coaching and development are important. If the coach is not doing neither time to move. But you need to ask yourself is your son having fun. If he is not move on, but if he loves the coach and the team but you have the problem with the coaches and his kid suck it up until the end of the season.

They aren't finding another team after the season has started and they shouldn't, you committed to something and that's that. If it blows that much find some additional skills or off ice to improve said bender for next year. Please don't teach your kid to be entitled, way to much of that as it is.

All comes out in the wash. Kid has to stand on his own at some point, regardless of who daddy is.
That being said, it can take much longer than one would think.
How’s the coach? If he’s good, you put up with it.
Yep exactly right.
I wonder sometimes when I see these posts would people gossip to colleagues and wonder if they should quit their jobs because a co worker is terrible or the boss favors an incompetent employee but is still a great boss to you?
Here is the reality. Your kids sucks also. You just think he is something special.
and another one. You guys really need to not come on the board.
These are our coaches ladies and gentlemen!! Talk about bashing kids... and they run the team to boot!
I will let you in on another little insider secret, your kid isn't getting short shifted because the coach doesn't like him or favors his kid. He gets short shifted because he is a liability.

I can tell you who this guy is ^^. The guy who thought he was hot $h!t in the 80's and best on his team. Always blamed his teammates for a loss. Was never "his" fault.
Reality is 90% (or higher) coaches get into coaching because of their own kids. There's only a handful that actually like coaching and kids (mutually exclusive). The proof is when the kids age out. Do they go back and coach another team or group? Course not. So enough with "coaches" who don't know the first thing about it.
What do you do when the coaches kid is clearly the worst player on the team? Can't keep up with the pace of the game. Do you bring it up to the owner? Surely, they must care about the quality of the product, right?
The owner knows, they just hope that people don't leave because of it, and as long as suckers stay or keep coming you will have teams with kids whose dad are coaches that don't belong !

This is rampant and has been going on for as long as hockey has been around.
This stuff eventually works itself out, but often times especially early, the coaches kid does get way more ice than the other kids, invited to tournaments he has no business being at and will often still be at the front of the line at the bench door even as his skills start to diminish and others begin to develop and pass him.
As owner said to me "he is a good coach and you can hide 1 kid through Pee wees". If the team is winning and other kids are coming to the team they are happy to keep a kid and sometimes two.... at the end of the day at those ages they are so young and most realize it does not really matter... That said, it is tough to watch and is the elephant in the room which is not great for the team moral and the poor kid as everyone knows it.
