It's easy to bash the coach & his kid but is it fair? In most cases it's not. Having 3 kids play at the "elite" level between two leagues & birth yrs ranging from 99-2005 I've analyzed this hot topic.
Head coaches who's kid is a top player generally leads a team to stronger competition and a stronger probability of getting better each year. These coaches can navigate with confidence and a clear head to handle BS if anyone dares to challenge him. Plenty examples exist with these coaches who provided a truly elite environment where a handful on the roster commits to D1 schools. These volunteer youth coaches have not gotten enough credit. We just like to talk about the misfit's who think they know about youth development b/c they played college hockey. Do not get confused!!!
Coaches with bottom third players only become a problem if the coach is an insecure individual. Meaning, they need & seek other daddy assistant coaches or like minded families (they need a self-help circle) to protect them. This dynamic leads to agenda-favoritism-enabled, behind the scenes driven environment to protect "a few kids" . Everyone knows who is going to play center & who will be running the power play regardless of what anyone thinks. Coach says one thing but has excuse for his actions. Run fast from these Metal midgets. They are capable of putting a label on your kid to better others while they never accomplish anything in youth hockey.
Conclusion; find confident straight shooters in youth development process to deal with. Not hockey nuts who claim they played & love hockey. Who cares if coaches kid is the worst or best player on the team when you have the right man for the job.
It's you, it's not the parents or the kids.
Best post on subject to date. It's not about coaches kid, it's about the coaches ego's . Secure coaches don't have many issues at at any level.

^^^^^^^ Well said and very true.
well said... I'll only add the confident coaches are unicorns in today's youth landscape
BINGO!!! Calling out all you smooth talking, slimy assistant coaches, who know how to manipulate the position. You give them an inch & before you know it, the HC is nothing but a front. Sound familiar??
OMG - what is more likely? Getting struck by lightening or uniform agreement by idiot DBoarders?
What is the weather forecast?
Laughing reading this. I’m a HC, have been for years. Of both my kid’s teams and before them Bantam and Midget teams.
Most very true. Assistants on my teams sadly are door openers, for many reasons. I may have to cut them and or their kid. No need to let them in on key decisions for the team based on their agenda.
Lots of “daddy packs” out there. Stay clear of that. I agree that if the coach’s kid is not top 1/2, coach needs to go.
I stopped reading because the OP's grammar was so bad I got a headache trying to figure out what he was saying.
This issue has been batted around for years. I think the only way to really bring this injustice to light is to kneel at the next game. Put down the DD coffee and drop to a knee so we can all start making a difference.
