Re: Tryout time coming soon - let's talk bubble player
Saw a town Squirt A team get hammered by a EHF silver team. And this town team is sitting pretty high up in the VHL AAA standings. Don't hate the colors, hate the game.
But I will say if your coach hasn't at least had a conversation about next year with you , you might want to start looking elsewhere.
And what do the teams with really no competition in their respective areas do around this time. How do the Rifles, Ct Huskies, Ct Jr Rangers , VT Glades and so on. How do they get better? They already pull all the decent town kids, where do they find better talent? Do they just pray new kids move into the area.

I saw a town peewee team lose 2-0 to a team that has been beating up the valley league. It was a state playdown game. Honestly I do not know much about the valley league but I think there are some decent town teams out there. Many not many but they do exist.

Valley for those teams that make it to top AAA or elite divisions is great hockey league. This is a true tier 2 A or AA hockey whatever you want to call it. Teams find good competition in the Valley Hockey League. Loaded with talent.. just spread out over 25 divisions. When your kid or his friend gets cut from your AAA team good chance the player that takes their spot comes from a valley league team.

Parents of bubble players are the most delusional parents around. Mostly it's because they shelter their kid and are at a lost for how to tell their kid that he or she is just not good enough to be on a certain team. So what happens? Said parent will then blame the coaching and tell the kid it's not their fault they suck. Commence the backstabbing and the attempt to disparage the coach as the reason for their kid sucking. Happens every year. Fast forward a year or two later and the same kid is either out of hockey or enjoying being a 3rd liner on their town team.

VHL and Silver ? Oh my god. I am glad you get a little confidence and hope that your silver team beat avalley team, but what is the accomplishment?
Re: Tryout time coming soon - let's talk bubble player
It's all about coaching.. Valley has some great coaches. Had to pull my kid from his e9 team back to Valley to work with a competent group of coaches. Has made all the difference in my son's attitude and play.

no you have not seen that. That is a blatant lie. NO "Silver" team will beat up on any squirt A team if they are the top of any league. Stop spreading lies. simple case is if you are not elite then it doesnt matter where you play as long as you have a good coach because Beer league is the future at best.
Re: Tryout time coming soon - let's talk bubble player
If your coach tells you and your son to "remain cautiously optimistic" about playing next season, it means your son is on the bubble. It also means the coach is a douchebag and a cowand.
Re: Tryout time coming soon - let's talk bubble player
The bubble player ;
Basically you are not good enough to play and if anyone better shows up at Evals then you won’t. However. If they need your check to fill out a roster due to lack of other available talent then you are good enough.
What people fail to recognize is that almost every kid is a bubble player and parents are just thankful better kids don’t show up at their Evals.

Or the coach is trying to send you a hint to go to other tryouts so you are not ashamed and berating him and the organization when Bender gets cut.
