Hate to see that stuff. Happens a lot and while the kids and coaches are responsible for their behavior, the ref is responsible for controlling the game. Just check out the Vipers games. But what would you expect from that group of kids when you listen to the trashy parents.

We had a kid on our team this year take a full baseball swing at a kids head and connect. The coach and assist coach tried to fight the 30 day suspension. It was the assistant coaches kid. How foolish is that. They said it was ok because the kid had a helmet on. Watch out who you have coach your kid.

hope the kid is ok, awful to see kids get hurt. Refs needed to do a better job controlling game...they let it get out of hand, and angry parents/coaches fed into kids' aggression and frustration. Springfield team was getting crushed 9-1 in 2nd and smaller kid took a run at a larger kid, who simply kept going. Smaller kid unfortunately got hurt. He was fully responsive and emt sat him up upon arrival. Too many uninformed comments and opinions. Flames kid did nothing dirty, injuries happen unfortunately, and pray the kid is ok. But typically, the coach of a team getting crushed needs to prevent their own kids from taking matters into their own hands...not the other way around. Think about it.

There are good refs and then there are the rest. IMO officiating has gone downhill the past few years. Seems the Refs do not want to blow whistle and let a lot go. Which can lead to incidents like the one in this post. Not saying that's what happened here but I have been watching it go one for a while.

I think you just need to move on. It's an unhealthy obsession...there are bigger issues to worry about than one year, one organization. Hopefully your kid will make the team you want next season and you can put it all to rest.

The issue you fail to recognize is these kids play with intensity. When the other team is equally intense there can be conflict. My son's team has played them without incident and they've played them tough on other occasions and it became a physical game. I think they're a good team. When they get pushed, they push back. Don't get mad at them. Every team does it at that age group and older. If the refs are light with the whistles, games will get out of hand. If you think they are playing any more physical or dirty than any other teams, watch the games a little more closely, you're probably missing something.

Maybe time to play another sport ....

It's an update but more of a PSA.

He was diagnosed with a concussion, out of school for two days, out of hockey for the week, follow-up at the Pediatrician today, still having headaches, probably won't be cleared for this week either. He was pretty bummed about watching his team play four games this weekend in NH from the bench. But he understands why.

I reached out to the league, the ref in charge and the MMF's and learned that the league and MMF's were not aware of the incident; it was never reported. Another parent had already emailed the RIF and neither one of us received a response. The director of MassConn, the EHF director and director of MMF's were very responsive once I submitted my report. I urge everyone; coaches, parents, etc to report unsafe situations. Don't assume it has already been reported. Situations such as this can be prevented in the future but only if the proper people are aware of the problem.

I want to thank everyone who documented what happened on this forum. And thank you for your concern.
