I wish Gilmartin and McAdams would make the necessary changes to be competitive again. They just have too many friends that are in the program and they can\\\'t cut their kids or drop them down to Select.

They have select kids that are far better than the elite, but the elite dad is friends with Gilmartin and McAdams. This is not how they ran the Warriors years ago and that is why it will become a select program.

I have a friend that owns an ECHL team. The only reason he is concerned with the team\'s record is from the standpoint of attracting a gate.

Do you really thing multi-millionaires care about whether their youth hockey teams win?

What does a minor league hockey team gate have to do with youth hockey? Owners want to make money. Most of the time that is accomplished by developing players ( or stealing them) and winning. Everybody wants to play for a winner.

Wow, didn't realize I had to connect the dots this deliberately.

Of course youth hockey owners doesn't care about the gate. Hence, they don't care about winning.

Do you REALLY think they will have a hard time getting parents to write checks if their teams are below .500?

Owning rinks and teams is like printing money. I'm tempted myself...

The ECHL is a minor league professional league, thus the owner only cares about the gate! So does this make you an authority on youth hockey owners?

Of course ALL owners of businesses care about making money. They should. Even in youth hockey. However, they can care about kids developing and similarly will be more successful if their teams are winning just as the ECHL Pro team will have a larger gate if they are winning.

The effort and investment (and relationships impacted, if you believe the friends and family claim) to go from a .500 club to a real winner is a lot bigger than the benefit they would derive. They'll still only have two teams at each birth year each with 17 players...revenue stays the same, actually increases every year as they increase tuition. As long as they fill that quota (which they will), there is little incentive to change the way they operate.

"Johnnie - yes you deserve to be on the elite team, but my friend's son plays on that team and I just cant order him to be cut so you can play where you deserve."

Yep. Don't put your kid in the program. If enough parents follow suit and they can't fill their teams, changes will be made. Until then, expect the status quo.

Why was your kid at the open skate ? He is on the Tier 1 Bender’s that play in league with 0 competition!I got it you have him skate at your own free skate against bubble players and players on the cutting blocks so your bender can look better against lack luster competition .I hope that gives you the satisfaction you so desperately are searching for filling that void in your life due to Johnny’s inability to make an elite team due to his genetic inheritance of lack of athletic ability and drive ! Sure Johny is a great kid maybe he should join drama club instead of wasting his time in a WARRIOR sport . Johny obviously has Dads genetic make up .Son can follow in Dads foot steps .Drama Queen Elite and IHC 07 Elite wanna be never will BE!

Problem with 05 Warriors is that McAdams won't step in and make coach cut kid's who do not deserve to be on team. That's fine, but better players will leave.
