Best tourney hands down. There is a reason families uproot and move or shuttle kids to new teams in order to get a sniff at the Q. It is an unbelievable tournament and an experience my family will never forget. Hockey is incredible and city is amazing. It is very expensive but doing a lot of pre-tourney fundraising really helps lighten the blow.
We found the Brick to be totally over-hyped and a complete financial drain. There is nothing to do in Edmonton and there is a ton of down time. After day 2 you never want to go to the mall or water park again.
Aim for the Q you will not be disappointed. Good luck to the boys heading north.

Couldnt disagree more. Q is overated. Quebec City is nice but its so cold its not fun. Cant do anything outside and there are no inside attractions. They stretch the games so you are stuck there for 10 days. Tournament now is whoever buys in not earned your way in. It used to be prestigious to get an invite and now its whoever cuts a check. One rink is great - the others are average at best. Its overhyped and expensive.
Edmonton has a huge mall with water parks, amusement parks, restaurants. Rink is unreal. Hotels have casinos and you can golf until 10pm at night its so light out. Way better than the Q.
.....pretty sure Islanders made it to the finals last year so not sure why there is a post about how bad the "local" teams will get beat.....must be an E9/BHL jealous bender parent.

Didn't quite make it to finals, but they did well, yes.
There is nothing at this tournament that isn't at every other high-end tournament these teams travel to all winter. Matter of fact, the Toronto teams aren't there so one might argue the field is a little lighter than typical. I'm not sure the teams from Quebec, which typically do not show up for other tournaments, are as good as those from Toronto. So yes, there's a decent chance an EHF team will make the final 4 or 8.
I will give everyone my honest opinion when I get back. From competition, accommodations, things to do to the cost of staying seven plus days (hopefully). The D board is funny, instead of rally around the local kids to do well some D boarders want to put everything and everyone down. Haters are going to hate...
