Re: EHF Parity Rule Changes for next year

E9/BHL have teams conducting tryouts prior to the season ending. How is that helpful? They certainly don't "get it" This will only create issues with current players that know they will not be coming back yet having to head into playoffs knowing this.

Sorry every kid got cut

How does the timing of the tryout for one BHL team indicate that they don't have a superior parity process to the EHF?

Re: EHF Parity Rule Changes for next year

Nothing, you caught me reading too many threads and I jumped from tryout conversation to parity conversation. That one's on me.

Re: EHF Parity Rule Changes for next year

So glad I have to worry about this FUBAR.

Haha I see now. But I do agree with you. Too early for a tryout. Who in their right mind would commit to a new team this early in the process. Commit to returning next year fine, but a new team this early is crazy.

Its on the site under DOCS No change to Elite or Black having only 1 team allowed but a change for White and Silver

White Parity
• There will be no automatic bids for the white division based on previous years standings or championship.
• The White Parity Tournament may have 2 teams from the same organization
entered as long as no team from their organization qualified for the Black
Division and both teams will be allowed to participate in the White division
for the 2017-18 seasons if they both qualify.
• The end result of the White Division Parity will be a division of 10 teams
• If an Organizations 2 teams fail to qualify for the Black Division and the
White Division, both teams will be placed in the Silver division.
What is the current EHF Elite parity process that remains unchanged for next season?

Re: EHF Parity Rule Changes for next year

I think for Tier 1 Black for squirt major and better, any team with a winning percentage of .500 that current season should be exempt from parity. It is a waste of time and money and detracts from identifying the next best group of teams to fill out the division.

Re: EHF Parity Rule Changes for next year

This is straight bull. We shouldn't pay more money to be in the league. Just 2 divisions North and South.

Good God...

That's crazy. I'm all for letting kids play in whatever division they end up in, two teams or not, but .500? Your kid's team must be in the middle of the pack to say that. That would mean 1/2 of the black division my kids team is in would be exempt. That's crazy. A couple of looses or gains can shoot teams up or down.

Not only that, but teams turn over so much year to year that there is no guarantee that a .500 team will retain enough players (or add enough players) to be just as good the next season. The threshold should be higher, like .800. Only the dominant teams earn an auto bid the following season.

This creates the problem when a team turns over a huge number of kids but gets an auto spot for the next year. Makes no sense.

You gotta play to get in.

If I read this correctly-
No more than two (2) teams per organization will be allowed within the three Tier I groups. (In the event we need additional teams for the silver division, elite organizations will be allowed to put a 3rd team into the Tier 1 silver division)

Doesn't that mean the Islanders need to do something and can't field three teams in Tier 1? Also means Terriers can't have 2 teams in Black now either.

Re: EHF Parity Rule Changes for next year

An organization may have 1 go for black. If they don't qualify then 2 teams can go for white. They may also have a silver. If both teams make white then it is 2 white and 1 in silver. If only one makes white then it is 1 in white and 2 in silver. If they can't even qualify 1 team for white then they are playing in the wrong league and all of the coaches and directors should be fired.

Re: EHF Parity Rule Changes for next year

All of these quotas just serve to make the parity process less efficient. Who cares if there are two Islander teams in black if they are both good enough? Enough with the regulations, just let the "market" take care of things with wins and losses as the sole criteria.
