Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

People are dancing on the Saints grave but there is no evidence that the Saints are losing Ice in Cranston. I think its a little premature to be down on the Saints in that aspect. The coaching aspect however is something that could be a little troublesome and give parents something to think about. Multiple coaches leaving is not a good sign for a program. When it comes to Warwick they lose kids for two main reason. One being because politics. The Daddy coaches in an effort to protect their own kids keep kids on lower teams. Politics exists in all organization whether it be club or town but they seem worse in town. Second reason is competition. There is no question that the club teams provide better competition at not just the Elite level but also the Tier 1 black/BHL American level. Best example is the mostly 04 team from Warwick that went to the Caps and is in the White division. That team is not able to compete in the top division in the Tier 1 level.
IT wont happen this next season as contract were already in motion. After that all bets are off. Also you are wrong about the competition. No one can compare the elite level but that starts squirt major, maybe, below that its all relative. The PHL and EJEPL they play in are easily comparable to Tier 1. PHL teams on a few age brackets have beaten Tier 1 ( and E9 Teams) teams in various tournaments so although the variant might be wider inthe those leagues the overall competition is the same. And since most saints teams are in the BHL national i wouldnt say that is a step up from even SNEHC.

Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

I also heard about numerours player movement out of Warwick. The Warwick kids are at all the practices and even playing in games for other teams. I heard almost an entire lower aged team is going to the PHC with coaches included. Typical movement this time of year but with an uptick in volume!

5/6 mites just like all mite programs. Same with Bears, SRI etc. Not a Warwick problem, it's everywhere. Parents willing to shell over 2700-3500 for Tier 1 (really tier 2) hockey is comical. If you all thought the 08 parents were nuts just wait until you see these 09/10 parents. They've broken the mold with this crew! All these kids are D1!

The 2 owners sold everyone of their families bull for the last 6yrs. Since there boys will be moving onto HS, they have no use for you now. I hope this a lesson for all parents. There are 2 types of ownership group in RI 1. Doing until my kid ages out or 2. Cashing any check until they get bored and move on.

I wish we could find a program that truly believe in developing kids and keeping family cost down.

Now that you will be working for the Walmart of RI hockey. Get ready for subpar performance at all Tier I levels.

Please join the 95 Giants if you don\'t mind driving.

God Bless the Ocean State.
There is an organization in RI that believes in these things and its right in the middle of the state. Warwick Jr Blues. Teams that Play at different levels with SNEHC, EJEPL and PHL, and i know what everyone is going to say about the leagues but it is still competitive hockey, tons of ice (5 skates a week), offer their own in house league, good coaches and about a fraction of the price of the PHC or Saints.
Yes but you saw the Blues just threw in with the Hitmen right?

Way I read it they are working together at Midget level. Still Jr. Blues and still Hitmen. This give Jr. Blues a better Midget league and if top kids make Hitmen Midgets, then good for them. PHL Midget level is very good, that fact is known.

Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

The people that can't understand how things will change are those who do not realize that there are kids playing on the Friars/Northstars that are better than some of the kids playing on the Caps elite. This now puts all of those players under the same roof so that they can funnel the better kids on these T1 teams to the Caps elite team. Of course the byproduct of this is that several Caps elite players are now out of a job.

Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

"...several Caps elite players are now out of a job."

Now they're getting paid? This is all happening so fast!:grimacing:

The most obvious choice for them at this point is SSK as its the closest from a travel standpoint and there are opportunities over there at all levels...Change can be good sometimes...Something to consider...BTW...You don't really need an overnight bag either...:small_airplane:

If any knows about history then you do not need to read the link below. Rome fell and so will anything else that has the following features as Rome once did. This is what can happen to the PHC! Beware the ides of March!

True. But is it year 1 or 799!

That is sickening if true.... but hey why wouldn’t that be true.... it’s freakin Rhode Island and no one does ****ty underhanded deals like Rhode Islanders do... the whole thing just fits in with the state’s moral compass! Never mind the hockey scene, the schools suck too! Ugh I’ve just depressed myself.... time to sell my house to a sucker and move to taxachusetts!
No real deal was done here. This was all one organization all along. The Woon Northstars folded in a couple of years ago as they bled players for years being capped at EMHL level play. This is simply a rebranding. Same kind of thing the Islanders did with the Lowell RiverHawks now Islanders West. They won't dictate where you play BUT if a kid does get cut they have a place for you within the 3 teams that will make sense. Solves the Midget problem too having 3 U14 teams now they could consolidate there and be much better. Adding the Midgets now makes them collecting $ from families from age 4 to 18.

It's priced much lower than anything inside 495. I mean what else would you do? Go to the Saints, 95 Giants, Walpole Express? Cleanest Dirty shirt is Providence Hockey Club.

Feeling bad for you guys... you had something special there... great coaching, great competitive teams... a little nugget of greatness surrounded by a state of “bleh”... now all that is gone... truly feeling badly for you guys. Youth hockey has become a complete and utter **** show... why can’t anyone fix it in New England???
After reading the FAQ's, I don't see how much changes. The are going to have one elite team and 3 Tier 1 teams.

because you are not reading between the lines. Now MS can dictate where youy play. If he wants kids to play elite and maybe mommy or daddy dont want to because of the Coaching (08 Group in particular), well.... you may not have a choice anymore. i know they say thats not the case but come on. If you believe that then i got a bridge to sell ya....

Stop being so dramatic Samantha. Why would he care who is playing where as long as the money keeps pouring in. Also, how many elite level players would choose Tier 1 over the Elite division if they actually had a choice; Maybe a few (at most).

I am not understanding your concern. There is only one elite team within the 3 organizations today.

Can someone less of a dbag comment what the core issue is? The three organizations have 1 elite and 3 Tier 1 teams today. What specifically changes?

Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

Nothing but access to form and align newer and better teams all under the same brand.

Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

Basically creating a power vacuum of players in the state to form better teams to battle outside of RI. Creating a brand while making a fortune. It is america and hockey has a huge business side.

Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

nothing changes except the name on the front of the jersey and a brand new shiny track suit

Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

Everyone needs to purchase new gloves,pants,bags,helmets.... That could add up to another $800. When will they have the Jersey reveal party/viewing? Don't forget the club gets a kickback from the fitting/equipment company.

here is the core issue. Teams as they consist now are done. They will move kids around to make "better" teams. So if you played for the Friars and they want that group to be the Black representative (you can only have one) then they will move kids from all three to that team meaning is you were a friar for the last 5 years you may end up playing out of mount because you are now on the silver team with other kids. so now not only is your bender competing for spots but doing so across 3 teams with the hope of landing in the Black division. now some people will be ok with that but the illusion is everyone can stay where they are under a new name. Not going to be the case.

Absolutely is going to be the case.

Re: To all the Providence Jr Friars, my condolences

No way...kids are trying out in each location. Kids from MA that have been playing for the WNS are not going to want to go to Cranston 5 times a week. They try something like that and people will leave in droves. Probably the same for Southern RI kids if they do it in reverse and try to send them North. At the Elite level people will drive all over the place, but with so many Tier 1 (or similar) options in the area, why would you if your kid plays at that level?

That is not correct. All teams will be provided FREE Jerseys, socks and bags for next year. That's right FREE. Only Impact would be Woon players would need new helmets and gloves.

if you mean free by way of the tuition increase then i guess your right. Free for everyone but i need another check for the difference in "tuition"
