Re: AYHL 08s

Yo
so you are only AAA if you are ranked in the top 10? AYHL had 7 teams ranked in top 40 in the country in their 08 division.
Rankings do not mean much at the squirt minor level.

Other than a really strong Gulls team what other teams look strong in the AYHL?
Only reao team in the AYHL 08 is the Gulls. Rest of AYHL is AA hockey with a third A added for \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\$\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\$\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\$.
There\\\'s a lot of truth to this. There are way too many \\\"AAA\\\" teams in NJ and Eastern PA, and the talent is spread too thin. Teams like the Avalanche, Colonials, Mercer, Royals, and Valley Forge have a few AAA caliber players, but the majority of the rosters for those teams are AA level talent. The Gulls have done a good job of consolidating talent on LI, outside of 1 player on the Royals. The Gulls picked up 2 kids who are coming from PA (that should be a lot of fun going to and returning from 3 practices each week), 1 kid from CT, and 1 of the best forwards from the BJB team last season, who moved up to MA last year for the Brick tournament. They have a lot of talent and will run away with the 2008 AYHL this year.
Really, 2 kids traveling from PA to LI Gulls. Not sure what youth hockey is coming to. Those kids easily could have played for decent Virtua team and made them more competitive. Have fun winning every game 10-0.
I got an even better 1 - the AYHL website has a kid from Tampa, FL listed on the Gulls roster. Nothing like flying up the east coast for games and practices for your 10 year old!
Can anyone explain why any of this makes sense?

Re: AYHL 08s

because winning is the most important part of 10 year old hockey!

It doesn't. But it goes to show the warped mentality of some parents out there.

BJB had no "best" forwards because the entire team stunk. Worst Bruins brick team since the program started.

He must be moving to Long Island to play hockey because he couldnt make a top EHF team.

Agreed. We don't have enough here in Massachusetts either!

Way too many teams in MA. See prior discussions on north/south 6 team divisions.
