What is the overall thought on this? I overheard a team mom the other day saying she offered to pay her kid $20 for each goal. She was laughing as her kid, playing D, was always out of position during the game as he was trying to score, which actually led to a couple goals against. I get why she did it, as he really isn't very good, but do other parents do this? Why bother going through the overall expense of hockey if your kid only wants to play with dollar bills dangling in front of him? seems weak to me.
As a coach I have explicitly forbidden my parents from doing this, notified in writing at start of season with team rules from mites ! By pee wee's the parents should outgrow it, but there is always a few looking to motivate or get production and they don't know how to do it.
Queue the bag carrying, jerseys on hangers carrying, dropping kids off at the door parents who will say they can spend their money and motivate their kids the way they see fit and it is harmless in 3...2...1...

You must be on Top Gun 07T1. Mom screams from the stands the ENTIRE game about giving her defenseman son $100/per goal. Also screams helpful tips like "SKATE" and "POWER PLAY".

Between the all the huffed up parents leaving the rink parking lot mad and others texting on their phones or plugging in GPS info to their next destination, dropping kids off at the door is a wise choice.
