Re: Stay classy RG!

The league sucks

You are all so funny. You have no clue what goes through the mind of an investor. You see RG as sitting in a little room, wringing his hands like Ebenezer Scrooge or Henry Potter, plotting up new ways to screw people over.

Sure, wealthy people have big egos. They crave power. It\'s what drove them to be successful.

And, once they have accumulated wealth, they use that wealth to accumulate more wealth. Greed is good. It drives our global economy. No entrepreneur is out there funding inventions without commercial success in mind. Never forget that.

RG and PG are following the same model. They are the GM and Ford, the Coke and Pepsi, the Apple and IBM of MA hockey. They are investing millions in youth and junior hockey to make millions from youth and junior hockey. They buy rinks, improve them to allow them to capture market share, build leagues and teams to consume the product (vertical integration), and then cash the checks. And, once the infrastructure is established, it becomes an annuity. It sets up income streams for the life of the building.

I\'d suggest you stop giving even one second of thought into the behaviors of wealthy people, where, from the ridiculous dialogue in this and the Collusion thread, you clearly lack critical insight, and figure out how you as an individual parent can take advantage of the opportunities these men are creating so your kid has a brighter hockey (and academic) future. Because what these people are doing is, in fact, creating opportunities that wouldn\'t exist otherwise.
You cannot possibly be trying to defend RG's actions in banning a 12 year old kid from the league. No matter how successful RG is, no matter how successful the league becomes, integrity should not take a back seat. What kind of life lesson are you teaching this 12 year old boy? What opportunities has RG created for him? This kid will forever remember that RG cut him so he could load up for the Q, and then banned him from the league, all because RG was mad at the kid's parents. RG won the battle, but at what cost? Sad. Smoke a peace pipe and let the kid find a home. According to the Collusion post, at least 2 teams are willing take the kid, and neither are a threat to RG's wagon. Sounds like a good "opportunity" for the kid, and it makes the league better too.

You don't *know* what happend, you are basing your opinion on the rumors spread by others.

But, let's suppose it's true. Suppose what happened was he called some of his close business associates and said, "you may not want to bring that family in, the parents are a problem."

Do you think this sort of "collusion" doesn't happen every day? Ever heard of not burning bridges in business? Why, exactly, is that? And if someone becomes "unemployable" because of their actions, doesn't that hurt families, too?

There are PLENTY of teams that this kid can go to. PG would probably take him, just for spite (that's what I meant by parents looking for ways this can benefit their kid). You just want to believe the kid has been wronged, because you're allowing your disdain for The Man to get in your way.

You mention Jack Welch. Do you know what a ruthless ******* he was in building GE? Read a book about Steve Jobs sometime - one other than the "authorized" biographies - if you want to see what rich a-holes are accused of doing.

Someone in the thread somewhere said the are two sides to every story. Wrong. There are three. Always.

I 100% agree with your point about warning other teams about bad apples, burning bridges, etc. That happens all the time at every level and in all aspects of life and business. However, if a team is willing to take on the family, why should RG stand in the way. Let people form their own opinion. The story swirling about with a good bit of factual support is that RG threatened retribution against any team that took the kid. He has gone way beyond warning teams about the family. That's the reason people are saying the kid is being banned from the league. If true, then RG is abusing his power to blackball the kid. I also agree with you that there are three sides to every story. So far, we've only heard what appears to be the family's side.

"The family's side" from a family that is pretty much acknowledged by most of you as the root cause of the issue their kid is suffering. Do I have that right?

And, now it could be that they didn't pay their bill. Which, if true - and I'm not saying it is, because it's only an unfounded rumor - means the league has an obligation to step in and not allow that family to give money to another club in the same league - even if that club wants the kid - until the debt is settled. This is for the protection of all of the league's members. Otherwise they're just hurting each other's wallets, and that isn't in the league's best interests. It probably says it in those 100 page contracts.

Which gives RG the right - just as any other club has the right - to enforce that same clause.

Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

Re: Stay classy RG!

čÖä. You really think this is over an unpaid bill. Ridiculous. People close to the situation know it’s wrong but are too afraid to speak up. Cause they KNOW they’d be next. Like he’s doing anything out of the kindness of his heart or to deveop kidsčśé. It’s al about money and power and vindictivenessčśé. Smarten up people. Youth hockey is vicious. Made that way from men like him that are nothing but bullies. When they don’t get their way, watch out!

First of you had to be classy to stay classy, B) there's more kid on that team with unpaid bills than you know. RG is a douche and I've told him to his face too.

Re: Stay classy RG!

Rumor is he offered to buy the DBoard and the people in charge turned it down. Someone said it was a ‘low six figure’ amount.
