A couple of things. First if your kid is going to the Brick have fun and enjoy it as youth hockey goes by way to fast. Before you know it you are looking at U-14. I have been through it, a few of the kids will be the best kids at the brick and will still be the best kids in their age group at U-14. However there have been a lot of kids that were the best during the Brick years and have been pasted by many other in their age group. Others are still very good players but not as dominate as Brick years as other have caught up. Does not make them bad kids or failures it is just the way it goes in hockey development.
After the Brick there is the Q, then STX 68 and then it's all over but the crying:(
My advice is just enjoy your kids and the places youth hockey takes you because its over in the blink of the eye!
One last thing. That 2001 group is like no other. A bunch of those kids were on the MMF and were like 100-0 over 2 or 3 years. A few are in the NTDP camp and a bunch are going D-1. This group is the exception not he norm. Hey, but good for them, the more MA hockey players in D-1 and beyond the better. There has never been another group like the 01's.
Sincerely,
Been there and done that
Great post (for a change) on the board. Thank you
Congratulations to all the Brick Hockey alumni selected in the 2019 NHL Draft!

It's sad that you took the time to cut & paste !
So people with kids 8, 9, 10 years old actually look at things like to brick and say to themselves "If my kid can do this he has a better chance of making the NHL"? Most will be 20 year old freshman at D3 if they still play hockey at that point. Just enjoy it, don't brag and teach your kid not to brag because you're both constantly getting **** on if you do.
Why not let a 9 or 10 year old chase his dream? It most likely won't play out but where is the downside? Let them have their moment in the sun (well, cold poorly lit rink anyway) and let the parents and grandparents brag about it. This is youth sports in America and when they mature and grow they will understand where they are going but until them let them dream. Stop being *******s and let the kids play the game.
No my kids are not at the brick, the Q, or anywhere else outside of our region. We like it here and if they happen to get the invite someday we will go.
"Why not let a 9 or 10 year old chase his dream? It most likely won't play out but where is the downside?"
dad, can i have the car keys, my dream is to drive.
If a kid loves baseball his dream is playing in the Little League World Series. If a kid loves hockey his dream is playing in the Brick.
