Right on, I used to take my son once a week to a skating clinic in the summer, various boring edge work drills since he was 6 to 12, same weekly summer skills. Currently he is playing high level hockey approaching midgets, he still attributes his success to those weekly skills.
Spend it on vacation. Let him be a kid.
Avoid spring and summer tourney teams and spend money on the beach, skating and other sports
The people telling you to avoid the spring and summer teams are the parents of kids that couldn’t make those teams. Do what your kid wants to do. Don’t force them to do skills or camps. At the mite level concentrate on skating and edge work.
you sure about that hahaha? Avoid summer tournaments teams unless your kid is a stud. No development at all on these teams. Just a money grab.
Imagine the concept of a vacation in the summer while your kid who loves hockey also gets to play in a tournament? Wild idea isn't it.
