Re: Good MHR Rankings are Expensive

Benjamin
Basically if your team is strong (like many are) and you have the schedule and means to travel all over the country to play top ranked teams in MHR you have a good chance of climbing up in the rankings, even if just by stepping on the ice with other teams who travel all over the place. On the other hand if your team is strong but you primarily play games within your region and/or league your ranking will remain comparable to only those teams and relatively stagnant or slowly fall over the year, as the teams who travel all over the country will continue to do so thus improving (and protecting) their rankings. So please folks, get to Nashville, Chicago and Florida, buy that airfare, rent a bus, whatever it takes to get your kid’s team in the top 20.

Re: Good MHR Rankings are Expensive

Which tournaments base their divisions of MHR?

Re: Good MHR Rankings are Expensive

MHR is so messed up. You have top Upper Gold Teams being ranked way higher than top Platinum teams. The top platinum team in our division would easily beat the top gold team by 10 goals.

MHR doesn't really get accurate till about January or February.

Re: Good MHR Rankings are Expensive

The rankings only take into account the last 10 games a team plays. This is why the top ranked MHR teams play a bunch of top tier invite only tournaments throughout the year. Losing big at these tournaments is infinitely better than not going at all because of the strength of schedule factor. Top teams can't go too long without playing a tournament- their ranking cant survive on just regular season games. Look at a calendar- it's rare for them to go 10 games without a tournament.
